I wonder how Liliana would handle a discussion about Enlightened Self-Interest...

But telling Taylor exactly that she managed to escape the clutches of the curse BY passing it off actually would make her more trustworthy, in specific ways. It’s a show of ‘you’re good enough that the chance of you being able to do something outways the chance to manipulate you secretly’ - a manor of Enlightened Self-Interest. In other words, she’s telling Taylor that she values the Long Term benefits of thier Mentor/Student-like relationship over any short term benefits. After all, Taylor has proven to her that Power has no allure to her, especially any kind of Power Shortcut.

So there's some malignant ephemeral force that covers the entire plane that's decided that it doesn't want an intact Taylor. If I knew more about MtG lore I'd probably know what that force is, but as it stands I'm learning along with our favorite soul split walker. I'm kind of torn about the whole thing. Part of me thinks that this would be a great place to see the turn around for Taylor. Find the big bad, do something clever with her alternate while Ritz and Raven hold off the minions, find the opportunity to merge while the big bad is distracted, and then much ass kicking. This being the moment where things start to turn around for Taylor, where she starts being able to make a difference in her own life at least and can start to reverse the downward trend of her life. The part of me that has pattern recognition though expects them to find that the big bad is utterly out of their weight class. They'll have to make horrible sacrifices to escape with their lives, and not all of them will manage to do that. They'll limp away while Taylor spirals deeper into depression at her inability to actually accomplish anything. She'll then reaffirm her goal to never let such a thing happen again in the most unhealthy way possible, and then proceed to do more stupid things to try and gain power that will inevitably bite her in the ass later. Really hoping for the first option though. Really, really REALLY. Also, Lilliana Vess... dear god the more we see this woman the more I think that Taylor should have stayed very far away. And the sheer stupidity! Not with the Veil, but the way she removes and possibility of trust with Taylor who she's counting on to help her. Trust is sort of a must in any sort of working relations ship. And then there's miss, "I can only use the source of power I'm obsessed with when I have another planes walker to take the insanity inducing punishment for me. Oh but don't worry I'd never do that to YOU." I mean come on lady, even you don't believe a word that comes out of your mouth. If Vess told me the sky is blue I'd have to go check. And why are the Taylors still working with this disaster waiting to happen anyway? They went to her to figure out how to work around their soul split. But they've decided that merging is the best option, and the thing stopping them isn't something that they'd be able to get Vess' help with anyway, judging by how she washed her hands of the vampires that weren't a threat to her back in Skyrim. So really, why are they still hanging around to get back stabbed by this woman? Because anybody who doesn't think that's what's going to happen hasn't been paying attention.

I really enjoy teacher Liliana, really hope there is no stupid "sudden but inevitable betrayal" from her. If anything i expect her to soften up a small amount because she isnt immune to attachments and emotions.
