3 changes to improve video quality
🕑 Added 2017-07-25 11:53:26 +0000 UTC The first one regards the codec used for encoding the videos. The new videos will all be encoded with HEVC to get a better video quality. This was necessary to make higher quality videos, it halve the bitrate without losing quality compared to the older codec h.264.As second change, there is the file format. Switching from 180x180_3dh to 3dv for future videos. Again?! Yes, whenever it makes sense the videos will have a 360° field of view, and the 180° videos will have 16.7% more field of view this way due to rendering fov compared to the 180x180_3dh version where I have to cut a part of the video away.
And last but not least, the resolutions: instead of the 3840x1920 res version there is now a 4096x4096 res version. The 3200x1600 is replaced with a 3600x3600 res version. For the 2880x1440, it's 2880x2880 now and 2160x1080 becomes 2160x2160. Frames per seconds are 60 on all videos, but there may be a 100fps version in the future as hardware gets faster.
To show my supporters some appreciation, the 4096x4096 version of the videos will only be available for them. Without you I couldn't keep this up with the file hosting, hardware wear, electricity costs and time spend. Thank you guys for your contribution and backing!

I can't tell you too much now because I'm still experimenting with different camera settings. Take the camera arrays that are used for recording real videos as template.

Hey, thanks for sharing my interest in VR smut! I've got my own project in SFM that I want to render with the best quality possible. I worked my way through HyperChaoticFox's tutorial (which is hilarious by the way), but he doesn't mention stereoscopic 3D. How did you manage it?
