Jamie Bloch sits down with The Degrassi Kid Podcast to talk about her role as Yael Baron, Degrassi's first (and only) non-binary character.
While Degrassi pioneered the conversation around sexuality and gender identity in high school, I was curious to ask Jamie how she reflects on playing a non-binary character as a cisgender-actress? ðŸŽ

I loved this episode, Jocelyn! What a sweet, thoughtful interview. I just texted my non-binary teen Kye to tell them how good this was. They’re away visiting grandparents this week, but Yael and Adam are both really important characters to us. Sweet interview - it’s great that she got to learn about non-binary from her role! Lola was a true friend to Yael, and it was a great role for Amanda Arcuri. Good point about there being an opportunity to explore her Jewish culture - yet another thing we missed by not having more seasons!😕
