Poll | Complexity GPTP
🕑 Added 2023-09-27 13:00:07 +0000 UTCHi there!
GPTP (General-Purpose Trailer Pack) needs a little bit of your input! It is a complexity issue, one which has generous benefits, but also hefty downsides.
Our development team is torn in between making the various bogie types and their settings specific to each trailer type, or, doing it the simple way which consumes significantly less time but would make it suffer from a few potential issues.
Pros of doing it the hard way:
- Bogies can only be added and manipulated as intended.
- less instances where particular bogie types could interfere with each other or the trailer itself causing massive issues in the process.
Cons of doing it the hard way:
- Very time consuming.
- Creates space for many bugs.
Pros of doing it the simple way:
- Much faster to develop.
- Less space for bugs.
Cons of doing it the simple way:
- Many potential instances where one or more bogies may conflict with each other or the trailer they're attached to. (i.e 28' trailer with triple axle bogie won't work well)
- Ultimately, less realistic.
