Update - Kenji, Iku, Kimiko and the Orb of Ecstasy

I think the girls look really nice in this shot, as they use the Orb of Ecstasy on Kenji. Do you agree? I've taken this approach to using the Orb as a kind of fleshlight in the scene before (in the Rio scene), but I thought it worked well enough to try it again. It fits best with the scene as written.
Release of PAL 1.8.0 and 1.7.0
Overall I think the release of v1.8.0 of PAL when pretty well. People seem to have been enjoying the new updates, although I can always use more feedback if you've got anything to add on that front. Did you like the new stuff? Did anything not seem to work the way it's supposed to? Any room for improvement? If so, drop a comment down below and you'd be helping me a lot. :)

Writing the KimIku threesome
I don't want to jinx it, but this week the writing of the KimIku scene actually went pretty well. These full interactive scenes are always pretty challenging to get done because they involve a lot of writing, but I did get a good amount of the stuff finished. I'm in a real time crunch right now so I'm a little bit panicked about getting it done on schedule, but I'm most of the way through. I just have to write up a few more bits (including the Kimiko "main event"); the only problem is that it's always the final 10% of the work that takes 90% of the time.
If I don't finish it all I'll try to write a little more on my holiday, but I'd rather not have to do that. :) I may still have to do a little work on it when I get back, though, because I'll need to finish programming it and test it too. So I probably can't release it as soon as I return, but it will still be next month, I think.
The Fumi Renaissance
I've noticed lately that players have more and more been mentioning Fumi as their favourite character in the game. I like Fumi too, of course, but that surprised me a little since in the early days of the game Fumi tended to get a little bit forgotten. Do you have an opinion on this? Do you agree? I want some answers, god damn it!

Ha! Okay, but I may find myself wanting to write an idea or two down at some point. :) Fumi's not coerced to be there, but I'd say Iku's there of free will too; both of them have some economic considerations. I guess the thing about Fumi is that she understands what the job is, she just doesn't mind all that much. Glad you're enjoying the updates! :)

You shouldn't do work on holidays, so no games. Relax and take your time to read that book you always wanted! ;) As for Fumi, of course everybody loves her. Isn't she kinda the only one who works at that mansion out of free will? Everyone else, including the player, is forced by external constraints. I've always felt that she is as free as you can be within "that universe" and she shows it. By the way, I love the updates!
Yeah, I can totally see Iku as Mantis. Hana as Groot is an odd image though. Coincidentally I wasn't too into Gamorah as a character either. =P

Sure, Fumi's Rocket, Hana is Groot, Kimiko is Gamorah and Iku is Mantis. ;) I actually personally think Kim has a pretty sympathetic situation - she's not inherently a very likable person, being a bratty princess, but she's ultimately just a young woman who got a really raw deal out of the legacy.
Huh, I really like the idea of Fumi being Rocket for some reason. Could all just be personal opinion clouding my read of the game of course, I could never quite get myself to sympathize with Kim. If I recall she was actually the first one I ended up handing over to Hiroshi for a passion potion in my first play through ...

I see Kimiko more as angry and superior, while Fumi's more of a Rocket Raccoon; crass and defensive. I couldn't say whether she's the most developed maid; I tried to develop them all about the same extent so I'm probably too close to it to tell. :)
Love the pic. Guess I didn't elaborate quite so much on that last post, but then I didn't have a chance to run through it quite as thoroughly as I would have liked, I mostly just got the Hiroshi passion potion scenes and Iku under the table. I liked the Hiroshi scenes, particularly how they start a little differently based on the maid involved. Which leads me to the bit about Fumi, whose offer at the start of her scene tells you how badly she wants that potion. I think part of her popularity (for me at least) is that she does actually feel a little more developed character-wise than Kim and Iku. I sort of feel like she has a little bit of an overlap with Kimiko in that they are both kind of crude and aggressive at times but I just feel like Fumi has a little more depth going for her. Of course, I think that you don't really get that until you play through her ending. Maybe that might explain why you are seeing more response the more people replay it?
