Update - 10 April 2017
🕑 Added 2017-04-10 00:00:00 +0000 UTC tl;dr - I'm on holiday!I'm visiting Angkor Wat today!
I've mentioned I'm on holiday, so this is a scheduled update I wrote before leaving.
You may have already seen this set, it's a model of part of the enormous and reportedly spectacular Angkor Wat complex of temple ruins in Cambodia. I decided to schedule this update specifically for when I will actually be visiting this place, so I should theoretically be there when you receive this. I can't exactly share the experience with you guys, but I'd like to, so here's my best shot at it.
They say there's only one form of time that prevails there: eternity. That sounds pretty chill, I could use that kind of relaxation right now. Mind you, I forgot to bring a harem of sexy babes with me like Shuji did, damn it. Hopefully I'm enjoying myself anyway. :)
It probably goes without saying that this isn't a planned image for the game, although I guess I might stick it into the victory suite just for fun.
HD skies
A small technical point for those of you who are interested in the behind-the-scenes stuff: you might notice that the sky in this pic is better than in a lot of my older pictures. This is because I've shifted over to using special HD sky maps that can replicate the real lighting while also depicting a full sky scene. This is great for creating an image with 'real' lighting and in which I don't have to avoid showing the sky.
This will apply to all manner of shots (and you've already seen some of those), including daytime scenes, nighttime and also sunset. That's pretty cool because in PAT I'm planning for the passage of time to be an important plot/gameplay element.
Comments? Go ahead, although I may not be able to respond to them right away I'll get to it eventually!
