Update - 8 August 2016
🕑 Added 2016-08-08 10:18:25 +0000 UTC tl;dr - I've been working on images for the Masami sex scene for most of the week. The next alpha is coming soon and will feature that sex scene plus the card system, plus I've had cool ideas for a future writing project. This week's image
I hope you like Masami in sexy situations! ...because if not you're probably not going to be too keen on the next alpha. It's mostly about the Masami sex scene and the card system. :)
Image design work
I've realised this week that the main thing that I need to do right now is make a bunch of images for the game. That's time consuming but at least I'm clear on that. I've spent most of the week working on a selection of images for the Masami sex scene. Unlike almost all the other sex scenes, this scene is one that Phinn hadn't contributed anything for before he had to drop out due to his health. (Which is improving, if you didn't catch my last mention of that.) Therefore I actually have to create all of the pictures for it; and while I had a few in the bank from earlier concept shots I really didn't have much to go on.
Much of what I did have also needed updating, so this week has been consumed with... well, a little bit of testing but mostly just making pictures that still needed designing. Hence on the work side this update is a little short because all I can really say is that I was making dirty pictures most of the time. Honestly, these last couple of weeks have been those frustrating kind of periods when I've been working but not getting exciting, obvious progress. Producing 1-2 pictures a day doesn't feel like especially quick progress, even if it is important and going quite well. (In point of fact I do 3-4 some days - I'm hoping to manage 4 today as it happens.)
By the way, one thing I did this week was acquire a bunch of new 3D resources and if you watch my twitter feed you will have seen a really awesome forest path that I picked up. I plan to use it a few times in PAL just for when Kenji's trying to get to the river, and then I'll probably end up using it somewhere in Let Me Out as well. It's totally brutal on my computer's running speed, though. It's such a complex scene with all the foliage that it's super laggy even to try and pose the characters for the scenes, let alone rendering it. I feel like I need to upgrade to some crazy beast of a PC with dual GTX 1080 cards or something! (Actually, if this job keeps up in the long term I guess I will one day...)
Next alpha
It's coming soon! I promise! Actually it should be very soon, I'm really just holding off until I can put a couple more images in, so it should only be a matter of days. In the next alpha I will be including the collector card system and the Masami sex scene. I've finished making pictures for the actual sex scene for now (I don't yet know if I'll add more; I might), but I want to add a couple more pics elsewhere into the alpha and also give it another test. Hopefully that means alpha 0.11.0 will be out this week - we'll see!
Planning for the future
It doesn't mean a whole lot to you now, I know, but I had some really interesting writing ideas for a future project I'm planning. I can't say much yet but I can't wait to tell you more about it at some stage in the future. In fact I spent one morning just writing up some of these ideas in an outline. My outlines tend to be huge and cover an enormous amount of ideas before I even start writing, so it's good that this one is starting to flesh out a bit because I'm going to need it once I finish up work on PAL! I am really quite excited about a lot of these ideas even though I don't quite know how it's all going to fit together into a 'game' just yet.
I want to know what you think! It's helpful! Please leave a comment!
