Update - 15 August 2016
🕑 Added 2016-08-15 09:06:11 +0000 UTC tl;dr - This week I put out PAL v0.11.0, voice acting officially wrapped up, I finished up the potion system, I added notices when you fail to get an orgasm scene and I've made sex images repeat the second time you try a sex act. This week's image: Iku's passion potion
One of the goals I've had this week, after getting alpha 0.11.0 out, was to get the passion potion system finished. If you don't remember what those are (or haven't found out), passion potions are what Hiroshi gives you if you accept his requests for night service from the maids. I had actually kind of forgotten that this system was unfinished, so it was a loose end I wanted to tie up.
I wasn't sure when making it if this was going to be a sufficiently erotic picture, since the scene really only calls for Iku to suck Kenji's finger while having an orgasm, but I think it turned out well and I'm happy with it. I figure these need to be decent since their the ostensible 'reward' for those trades.
That's a wrap!
As of this week voice acting is now all in for PAL! I had received most of it already once Masami was done, but I was still waiting on one more Iku line to make it official. I still need to edit much of it and add it to the game, of course.
Getting alpha v0.11.0 complete
Obviously the start of the week was consumed with completing and testing my changes to the game for the latest alpha. That alpha really took me a lot longer than I planned, but I guess that can't be helped. I just had to do a lot of work on it.
There were still a lot of people confused by how to get Ai or Masami, and while I wouldn't normally give hints publicly (that can spoil the fun) I didn't want patrons to miss out so I put up a spoiler hint post in case people needed it. I can really use feedback on what's working and what isn't - I don't necessarily know what it's like to play the game from your perspective, it's very different when you're playing it as the designer. I already know what everything is supposed to do, so don't feel dumb if something is confusing or too hard, it's most likely my fault, not yours.
Potions
If you've played the alpha you may have noticed that there are a variety of potions available - passion potions (mentioned above), love potions, health potions, etc. You're supposed to be able to use those in normal day to day interactions, giving them to girls outside of combat. With the next version of the game you should be able to do that, and that's what I've been focusing on implementing this week. I am looking to tie up these loose ends before moving on to programming the next threesome scene, so at least this particular one is now out of the way (although I still need to do some testing, I suppose).
"Orgasm fail" notices
Thanks to getting some feedback this week from a patron I recognised that the game doesn't actually point out to you when you're in a sex scene and you've just missed an orgasm (because you were out of orgasm points). It occurs to me that probably a lot of you who've played the game will have therefore missed some major orgasm moments in the sex scenes that you've already seen, since you only start a sex scene with 2 orgasm points and you need to spend them wisely (or boost them by drinking health potions). What I've done is go through and add a disclaimer to all those moments that will now indicate to you when you've failed an orgasm point check, so you'll know that there's something you've missed that's worth seeing. You can always swig a health potion and try it a second time to get the orgasm.
Repeating images within sex scenes
The other thing that was pointed out to me was that I hadn't set a standard approach to whether an image gets repeated when you try a sex act for a second time. I've also gone through the game and added those in now so that you should mostly get the image again the second time you try a sex act in most scenes. Doing these two fixes (repeating images and "orgasm fail" notices) took most of a day's work, but these are the kind of refinements that the game needs at this stage.
How's it going with you? Good? Got a comment to leave? Great!
