Update - 4 July 2016
🕑 Added 2016-07-06 05:23:28 +0000 UTC tl;dr - I'm still working even though I'm on holiday. Plus I talk a bit about the cards in the game.Happy Independence Day to all my American friends! I'm actually in your fine country right now so I experienced it in person! I meant to post this yesterday, my apologies, I was simply distracted.
This week's image
This is a prospective card that I threw together. I've actually had this picture in store waiting for the last few weeks to go in a weekly update, but I wasn't sure where to put it.
Fumi's pose is one that I had been using for when she scores a critical hit in battle; I'll probably keep using it for that, but I also fantasised about standing behind her when she's posing like that and holding her just like Kenji is. I think this turned out quite well as a romantic character portrait of the two of them as lovers.
Do you think she's wearing underwear?
Still on holiday
I'll be honest, I've actually largely written this post in advance because I'm still on my holiday. I hope I'm enjoying it! I've been going pretty much full no-life, working on the game for the last 5-6 weeks or so in order to get out the last two alphas. A holiday comes as a welcome relief after that, although of course I enjoy working on the game.
As I mentioned last week, however, I've brought my laptop and I'm working on the game when I get free time. After all, I can type and edit the game on just about any Windows 10 machine with my external HDD and wifi access. What an age we live in!
For this reason I can't give you a lot of sense of specific progress I might have made this week just yet. I plan to be tweeting, though, so maybe check that out: @BBBenAIF
Speaking of cards...
I've not really talked much about the collectible card system in the game yet. As it happens I think I've pretty much got the puzzles sorted out for it - most are even in the game already! I don't know whether you players have found them yet (I think some people have found the "Unwanted Advances" puzzle) but if you have found any you'll probably notice that very few actually have a card reward yet. They just have some placeholder text to be filled in once I've got the card ready for them.
When it comes to cards what I've been thinking is that I'd take a selection of interesting image designs and ideas that don't have a place elsewhere and use them for the cards. I've shown a few already, of course, and I have several more that I haven't shown. Sometimes when an image isn't working in the game it's just because it's not really all that great, but I want the cards to generally feel like they were worth finding, so I prefer them to be interesting. Left over images will also end up in the harem victory suite, too.
This means, however, that because the images aren't really designed for specific puzzles, I don't necessarily know which image should match which puzzle. I will still need to work that out once I've got what looks like a fairly full batch of images ready to go.
Anything to say? Please do! I'll still make sure to respond, no matter where I am. :)
