Update 50
🕑 Added 2016-02-29 02:31:35 +0000 UTC tl;dr - The demo has been released, I've done more rendering and programming, AWFreyr has free time to contribute some more, and I give a big overall progress update.I never feel as productive as I want to be, but this has been a pretty big week, I guess.
This week's image
I rendered this image this week; Rio at the lake. I did several lake pics of different girls but I liked this one the best. The lake scene still needs some more images, I think, but at least I've made a start.
Demo released!
I released the early access demo yesterday. If you want to check it out here's the post: https://www.patreon.com/posts/4382087
If you've played the alpha version, of course, then there's nothing substantially new in there (a few small things, but those will be in the next alpha version anyway).
So far the response has been good, so hopefully it will serve to generate interest in the game and I won't have to think about that too much. :) I'd rather just focus on making the final game.
Implemented objects around the house
I worked on putting objects around the mansion at the start of the week, with an eye to making the environments feel more interesting to explore and interact with. I also included some little puzzle-ish stuff that required some extra work. I had been looking on this as a low priority job but the fact that demo testers pointed out that it was an issue made me want to resolve it before releasing the demo.
AWFreyr has free time again
AWFreyr (Another Wannabe) has been contributing to PAL's writing but he's been busy lately finishing the draft of his next book. Fortunately he has now completed that first draft, so he's back and able to contribute again. I've tasked him with filling in some more of the gaps in the sex scene writing - completing tasks that I haven't been able to finish so far. (Mostly stuff that I just find boring right now, so it's hard to come up with a good idea for it.)
Overall progress
I wanted to give a general progress update this week, but rather than give you a percentage of completion (which I think I'm bad at estimating) I thought I'd just talk about what's left to be done. If you've played the alpha then this might be kind of obvious, but it helps me to lay it all out like this. The following are the main remaining features that need finishing in the game; after these anything else is basically just spit and polish:
- Combat tutorial (day 3)
- Iku's sex scene
- Masami's sex scene
- Threesome scene #2
- Threesome scene #3
- Day 21 (the end of the story)
- Endings
- Harem mode/ending
- Harem victory suite
That might seem like a lot - I mean, I guess it is kind of a lot - but it's not as bad as it looks. I have already done a lot of the necessary work, most of the writing and voice acting is ready, there are at least some images ready and I'll probably be able to make more for the remaining scenes pretty quickly. Also, the core programming functions are already there so it won't take too long to implement new elements.
Around a certain point with each major game project I start drawing up to do lists like this and then crossing stuff off as I get them finished. It does help me get some idea (with an understanding of my current work rate) of how long I'll still be working on the game. I'm looking forward to crossing these off and I plan to keep you up to date on them as I do!
Thoughts? Suggestions? Questions? Please drop them in the comments below! (Have you noticed how I tend to try to write something slightly different at the end each time?)
