Some silly lore for you about GORGE:
Sephis is an inflation-type competitor. Meaning he's mostly full of hot air, but is still quite dense and heavy. He can pump himself up, or be pumped up, affording him greater manoeuvrability in combat based events. He requires no outside influences to expand, which makes the inflation-type an appealing choice for people who don't want to rely on external devices or objects to get an advantage.
Simon, on the other hand, is a weight gain focused competitor. While all competitors are susceptible to being expanded by their opponent in any way, shape, or form, the types dictate which advantages and powers they have at their disposal. Simon for instance can steadily fatten up over time, and his unique perks allow him to multiple the calorific load of the pastries launched into the arena any time a weight-gain-type is competing.
Both Sephis and Simon have other unique perks. Like it's stated in the story, fighting in GORGE is like a video game. You unlock new abilities the more you climb the ladder, and as the reigning champions, the infamous Pop the Pig team have some surprises in store for later chapters...
The types revealed so far:
Inflation-type, human balloons with high malleability and unpredictable manoeuvres.
Weightgain-type, walking land masses with the potential to become crushing and blob-like.
Muscle-type, brings a whole new meaning to 'pumping it up,' but are known to be explosive.
Hybrid-type, able to mix and match two different types, but mastering neither.
