Audio Exclusive: Laura Flanders in conversation with Jonathan H. Marks on his book The Perils of Partnership
🕑 Added 2019-05-09 21:34:47 +0000 UTCIn his book The Perils of Partnership, Jonathan H. Marks argues that public-private partnerships create "webs of influence" that distort research and policy and reinforce the framing of public health problems and their solutions in ways that are least threatening to the commercial interests of corporate "partners." We expect multinational corporations to develop strategies of influence -- but Professor Marks argues that public institutions, ranging from museums to health agencies, can and should develop counter-strategies to insulate themselves from corporate influence.
For more from Jonathan H. Marks and listen to our most recent episode where he is joined by L.A. Kaufman and Jess Worth to discuss the ethically questionable funding streams of our cultural institution. Where public health and public art meet is a powerful place for public action.
