Chapter 97: In a Strange Place [1]
"And if this place... Is an anchor?"
"Now that you mention it, I’ve thought about that too. But in general, it’s an illogical choice to have a hotel here.
First of all, what are their intentions in opening a hotel in a place like this? Or rather, what benefits do they even have? If they want to escape all the hassle, why not choose to stay in the mountains?" Jun asked several questions.
"Moreover, why are so many martial artists gathered here? When the shadows were here last time, there were no guests."
"Judging by the expressions of the two owners, it clearly suggests that this phenomenon only started a few days ago."
"They look so annoyed... If this happened all year long, I’m sure this place would’ve been shut down. But it seems they couldn’t stop raging over the inconvenience. The only reason must be that they’re afraid of being exposed for something."
"But as top experts, what are they afraid of?" Jun kept drawing conclusions.
Besides that, with so many mountain assassins appearing nearby, I can deduce that Hou Ken is somewhere close. Why else would everyone gather here in such terrible weather? All these people must have been lured here by information deliberately leaked from an outside source. Everything seemed to make sense as Jun continued to frown.
"The latest news we received from the shadows is that someone is trying to unite all the assassin clans. For thousands of years, no one has dared to even think about such an idea, but now it seems things are changing."
"All this recent activity is because of us."
Ever since they partnered with the White Crane Clan, things have spiraled out of control with the other clans connected to them.
Like a chain reaction, the other clans that had doubts started weakening against each other, and the idea of unifying them all spread rapidly among them.
Jun could have killed Kyou Kai's target in company, and maybe it wouldn’t have caused such a negative impact on all the assassin clans. Now that he knows about this situation, he’ll have to seriously think about what he wants to achieve.
His current target was Hou Ken. He wanted to know what difference there was between himself and the man considered to be a martial god.
"Are you really sure you want to measure your skills against Hou Ken?" Shen hesitated to ask this, but seeing Jun’s silence, he couldn’t help but voice what he wanted to know.
"I'm afraid things will be bigger this time." Jun needed something like this. Having his mind constantly stuck in a war that doesn’t benefit him much is a huge waste of time.
He wondered if, somehow, that’s due to how the people who trained him shaped him—no, more precisely, how he had shaped himself.
Looking around this room, Jun saw many faces with very different lives. If he went crazy now, he could finish all of them, but what stopped him was desire.
Jun desired to face a life-or-death battle, similar to the one he encountered when he became a Black Moon. That’s the reason he was here.
Crack!
At that moment, a fight broke out in the distance between two drunk men, arguing over one having meddled with the other's woman on several occasions.
"They must have lost their minds if they think fighting in this place is the right choice. If the owner kicks them out, those poor souls won’t have anywhere to go."
