Chapter 95: Jun's Ambition
"Your men are experts in moving through forests and mountains; this plan will definitely succeed if we join forces." Jun had just finished explaining the entire plan to Yo Tan Wu. She was an intelligent woman, so she understood everything that would unfold.
First, Jun needed to ambush Zhao's army at the border with Wei and crush their numbers to a point where they wouldn't know how to recover.
At that moment, once the war was won, Jun would march his army to where Yo Tan Wu was and march together toward Zhao.
All of this would work if they won the war against the coalition army. If the defense line was lost, Yo Tan Wu would move with an army of at least seventy thousand soldiers and attack the rear of the enemy, who should be struggling in a bitter fight against Jun's army of thirty thousand men.
In these two plans, both defense and offense were employed, and any outcome had been anticipated in Jun's strategy with the mountain men.
"If your men in those forests build the catapults and the cities of Wei under your control and hand over complete command to my soldiers, we’ll be in position." Yo Tan Wu knew the speed of her soldiers was crucial if Jun ended up facing a powerful army, which would pose a considerable risk.
She believed that setting sights on Zhao while they were being devoured by predators wasn’t the smartest move. That’s why she suggested setting up camps near Jun’s army to unite as one force if the coalition army advanced into the area where they would be contained.
For his part, Jun would entrust Yo Tan Wu with the fastest horses—his cavalry, twenty thousand strong. If they joined forces with the mountain army, it would create a cavalry of thirty thousand soldiers.
If that army entered the battle, they could easily crush over one hundred thousand men.
The famous heavy cavalry, the elite of Jun’s army, was designed to crush hundreds of thousands of enemies, and that’s exactly what they needed now.
It was true that Jun was taking a big risk, which is why he revised the plans by plotting a faster route to Zhao's borders from a more distant point. That way, if they won the war, they could ambush Zhao's army, beating them in speed.
If they did that, the risks would decrease.
"I’ll discuss it with the other leaders. I appreciate your gifts; they will benefit my people," Yo Tan Wu said with gratitude.
Jun nodded, placed a cage with a raven inside, and said, "This raven will come to me. Just write the message and tie it to its right leg."
Yo Tan Wu glanced at the raven and nodded slightly.
…
Qin Palace.
Ei Sei was listening to reports about the recent large-scale assassinations. He couldn't help but wonder if this was the gift Jun had promised him.
"Undoubtedly, it’s something unexpected. This strike has been a severe blow, and that’s why we must prepare ourselves much better," Ei Sei said to his followers, who understood the gravity of the situation.
All the deaths were of troublesome members of the Ryo faction. Everyone except Ei Sei's followers had been killed, destroying that faction, which had been such a threat to the current king’s throne.
"We all mourn the deaths of our compatriots, but we must focus on the enemies trying to take our nation," Ei Sei said with an authoritative voice.
"The King is wise."
"We must focus on our enemies. Those dogs must be eliminated."
"Let’s review the strategy we have."

Not exactly with him, but in a more relaxed environment. Jun's path is the bloodiest as the story progresses, which is why he seeks to give space to Kyou kai.
