Chapter 2: The Dead Don't Speak
If the driver in front of him was an ordinary person with a normal IQ, the original Dante was the type of person with the ambition to have enough strength to protect his family and his business. That’s why, under the pretext of wanting to study far away, he opened his own business, and in just a few years, he created a powerful criminal organization.
But the current Dante was more reckless, someone who didn’t hesitate to get his hands dirty and kill without any qualms.
Being taken from the city to the suburbs, he realized the importance of being more aggressive instead of just thinking about business.
The pub business, which laundered drug money, was only for show. What was really worth money was belonging to the well-structured organization responsible for selling, distributing, and granting permissions to sell without starting a gang war.
What he did was buy from a foreign supplier who sold the container, distribute most of it to gangs, and sell the rest through his home delivery system.
Everything remained peaceful because he had no enemies. Those who messed with him stopped receiving products, and he would find another buyer willing to take the place of the gang that had attacked him.
For a long time, Dante sensed that a gang wanted to kill him, and before he left for Montana, where his family lived, he found the gang.
Killing them personally wasn’t an option, but the Dante of now had lived a hard life where he either killed his enemies or they killed him.
Those memories were filled with fights, murders, and an imperfect life.
That’s why, in the end, he got tired of the days where he could die at any moment, renounced everything, and launched into a final battle against his remaining enemies, losing his life in the process.
As a result, Dante had easily assumed the identity of the young criminal who called himself a businessman from a distinguished family, with the largest ranch in all of Montana, who constantly faced problems from people wanting a piece of his land.
He knew Dante had prepared for this, so he was about to return home to see how he could help, but before that, he was attacked. That’s why he would stick to this plan.
...
Compared to the stories many have read over the years, the current Dante was not confused, not at this moment.
Dante was only focused on killing his current enemy as he wished. His thoughts became one, and within a few minutes, he had assumed a different identity, one like his own.
After Dante’s violent attack, the man’s head was covered in blood, and he lay unconscious on the ground.
He crushed him with a few more blows to make sure the guy wasn’t pretending, then picked up the fallen machete and raised it high.
Just as he was about to deal with the man out of habit, Dante suddenly froze for a moment and then slowly lowered the machete in his hand.
In his previous life, he wouldn’t have cared about things like the law. After killing a guy like this who threatened his life, he would dispose of the body casually.
But he had given up everything in his previous life to live as an ordinary person.
If this machete struck, he would still be the same person from his past life... A criminal and inhuman, willing to do anything for his own selfish desires!
“No, no, no, I promise that in this life, I will only kill to defend myself and my family. Yes, that’s the way.” Dante smiled slightly, then raised the machete again and made sure the cut was straight over the man’s head.
Crack!
The machete was so sharp that the cut was clean, decapitating the man with a single strike.
He nodded in satisfaction and suddenly felt full of energy, so he went for the hands and the feet; each limb was cut off in an extremely short time.
Leaning against the cold machine next to him, Dante panted slightly. The reason he had done this was that the body would decompose faster in the ground, giving him less time to worry about this fertilizer he would place in some tree world.
When he finished dismembering the body, Dante took off his shirt to wipe off the blood. The tattoos on his body covered his back, his right hand, and part of his neck.
He knew from experience that tattoos intimidated his rivals, which is why he had created such grand works of art on his skin.
The current Dante didn’t agree with that, but he didn’t care.
“It’s cold...” Dante touched his muscular body, not overly bulky, checked the time, and nodded slightly, knowing he still had time.
He stripped off all his clothes, threw them aside, walked over to where his phone was, and after picking it up, made a call.
“Pick up the package; it has good material that can be used for a tree!”
In the middle of the abandoned factory, the limbs of a man were gathered in the most illuminated spot. Dante’s naked body still had blood on it even after standing in the rain for a long while, but slowly the stains were washed away by the large raindrops, eventually erasing all traces of blood from his body.
After a few minutes, three large black vans arrived at the scene, and everyone began moving without needing instructions.
An older man looked at Dante, waiting for him, naked at the door. He got out of the van in the rain with a set of clothes in a suitcase.
“What’s the situation, William?” Dante entered the factory to change clothes.
“As you said, the Viper gang was responsible. They wanted more product than they could handle, and they were too obvious, so we killed the leaders and left the job to their former negotiator, who gladly took over.” William walked inside, following Dante as he searched for a more private spot.
“Any problems that could affect the business?” Dante asked while changing into more casual clothes.
William glanced at the dismembered body being stuffed into a sack and said, “None. They learned what happens if they commit another act of violence like that. The other organizations will surely know what happened tonight.”
Once Dante had changed, he walked back toward the exit, where several men in suits held long guns. They were all there to clean up the mess after taking down the top members of the gang that had attacked him.
“William, I’ll leave everything in your hands. If a problem arises, you can call me,” Dante said to the elderly man, someone he would never doubt would follow his orders, even when he wasn’t in the city.
William nodded slightly and said, “Good luck on your trip, boss.”
“All right, see you when we talk business in Montana.” Dante walked under an umbrella held by one of his workers and headed toward the van where his things were.
In no time, Dante’s blood-soaked clothes were burned, the body of the man who tried to kill him was being taken for burial, and the taxi driver’s car was set on fire.
In less than ten minutes, the abandoned factory was completely cleaned. There was no trace identifying Dante as the main culprit.
