Chapter 68: Madness
"Did you just send a direct threat to the King, right to his face? You both seem to be of different ages, but compared to what both of you are capable of at that moment, it's madness."
Jun looked at Trevor with a calm expression and said, "We are strong men. What you just witnessed, my dear Kyou Kai, was a clash of egos. You might think this conversation was short, but from now on, the King will know what I'm capable of if he tries to use me again."
"Did you indirectly fight with the King?" Kyou Kai didn’t seem to interpret it that way when Jun reminded the King that he wouldn’t follow his orders.
Hearing these words from anyone else could create a lot of chaos, but Jun wouldn’t call it that.
"No, I just made it clear that he shouldn't get in my way by trying to manipulate me. He thinks he holds power, but from my perspective, that power is incredibly fragile," Jun said thoughtfully.
"But you offered to fight for him on one occasion."
"Exactly, and in return, he will give me the territory I’ve been caring for up until now, as my home and mine alone. I've secured an important land where my village can stop living in the shadows. If they don’t fulfill that promise, they’ll simply give me an excuse to kill him." Circumstances had pushed Jun into this position, but it was due to other people's ambitions.
No one truly desires to take everything for themselves, but the best men often find themselves caught up in the desires of more ambitious individuals and end up gaining more than they ever wished for.
Jun was just like those men—someone who wanted little but was slowly acquiring more than anyone else. "We’ll travel to Wei during this time, seek out that woman to kill her, and then we can start over."
Kyou Kai glanced at the horses they had been given—three of the strongest and fastest in the capital, ensuring that they would have no issues traveling for some time.
"So, what will I do?"
Jun looked at Trevor and said, "Well, you should return to the city we recently claimed to ensure there are no problems."
"Are you leaving us?"
"Don’t be an idiot; we’ll be back in a few months." Jun was slightly confused by Trevor's behavior, hoping it wasn’t some form of emotional dependency or that would spell trouble.
"The sooner we find them, the better," Kyou Kai said with a slight smile as she mounted her horse. She wanted to leave as soon as possible to waste no time in returning.
Revenge was the only thing she had been thinking about this entire time. It was something symbolic, etched into her heart, and she had to fulfill it, even if it meant her death.
Jun, on the other hand, wanted to disappear for a while as his private army grew. There weren’t always good opportunities, and staying off the battlefield was sometimes the wisest decision.
That’s why, while traveling, he wasn’t just increasing his power in secret; he was also improving his chances in a war that had lasted more than five hundred years.
"Take care of the preparations. I want a well-prepared army when I return." Jun looked seriously at Trevor, who stopped playing around and nodded slightly.
After that, both Jun and Kyou Kai took a different path that led them directly to Wei, where Jun had received important information. It was where the village of Princess Shiyuu, the one Kyou Kai was determined to kill, was located.

What made the Roman army, or that of Napoleon or Attila, great conquerors was their professional army made up of men trained in combat, but also the fact that their army was a fast army that could easily adapt and also an army that benefited from great mobility.
