Chapter 63: Have a Drink
"Did you accidentally swallow your tongue? What do you want me to do besides bet all that money?" Jun touched his hair with a bit of impatience; he would have already solved the problem here if it weren't for Trevor having fun.
Trevor couldn't resist and burst out laughing momentarily but quickly assumed a serious expression. Moving his hands, he asked Jun in code, 'When are we going to kill them?'
'When the game ends.' Jun wasn't in a hurry now that they were close to the end.
The muscles in Luhan's face were about to burst; he was furious to the point that he wanted to start a fight. Forcing himself to stay calm, he replied, "Gil, right? Since you like betting and seek our friend's hand, then if you win, you can naturally have everything on the table and his hand."
"That easy? Fine, but you should consider whether that friend of yours, whose hand you're willing to bet for a miserable wager, is truly a friend or just someone you consider a dog." Jun happily agreed and asked, "How will we bet?"
"We’ll bet with dice!" A desperate look appeared on Luhan's face, determined to prove his skills worthy of admiration. "We'll roll at the same time, reveal our throws at the same time, and whoever has the highest score wins."
"Haha, sounds perfect. Do you think I'd fear my own hand? Moreover, Trevor will roll for me this time."
"Yes, I'll roll!" Trevor said arrogantly.
"Huh?"
Everyone was shocked. It was true that Trevor had won all the rounds, but they were surprised by how Jun spoke as if he had won all the games.
"We have no problem with that!" Luhan and his companions said, clearly excited. Their eyes revealed they knew it would be easy to beat Trevor, who had only been lucky once. Luhan could beat him with his eyes closed.
Everyone here was well acquainted with Luhan's level of play. He was an expert, even if he'd lost every round against Jun. If Luhan lost to a nine-year-old girl, he might as well take his own life, for the gods would have abandoned him in the cruelest way.
"Which of you two will grab the dice first?" Jun, ignoring Trevor's wild boast, smiled as he looked at Luhan.
"I'll go first!" Luhan said without looking at Gild, who seemed like he was dying in his chair, unable to move. He held the dice in his hands, shaking them wildly to win everything in this final game. He fought to suppress the adrenaline rising in his chest, even closing his eyes and concentrating as if praying to something. This throw would define the stories his grandchildren would hear when he was old. If he lost this, he'd rather lose his life.
Jun sighed wearily, watching Luhan’s strange movements. He turned to Trevor, who was nervous, and said, "Do you think he's trying to summon some divine spirit for help? I can't shake the feeling that this scene is strange; it feels really wrong."
Trevor, too focused on their opponent's potential results, couldn't hold back his laughter again and burst out laughing. "Poor bastards, ha, ha, ha."
Gild had lost the will to live, drinking wine as fast as he could, hoping not to remember today, assuming he lived to remember it. Luhan, on the other hand, believed Jun and Trevor were trying to throw him off, but his mind was calm—nothing could break his trance.
After a good amount of time, so long that Jun was chatting with Trevor about things they didn’t understand, Luhan let out a roar that even startled the men sleeping in a corner. The atmosphere around him suddenly grew intense, as if this bet was one of life or death.
"Triple six! Triple six! Triple six!" Luhan and his friends roared as they watched the dice fall onto the table.
The first die stopped spinning, landing on a six, followed by another six.
Luhan, who was sweating coldly with his friends, felt overjoyed. They all celebrated as if the victory was already decided, even though the third die was spinning strangely. Each of them shouted like members of a cult: "Triple six! Triple six! Triple six!"
If the third die landed on six, Jun would definitely lose the bet.
But were two dice showing six on the same roll a normal result? Some of the men who were still congratulating Luhan glanced at Jun with mocking expressions.
Luhan let out a long sigh. Today's roll had exceeded his initial abilities, and even though he had lost all the previous rounds, this last one seemed to have a very favorable result.
Who could have imagined that the last die, still spinning, would suddenly move towards the other two that were stabilizing on sixes? It spun between them, first bumping against the left die, causing it to tilt just when it seemed settled on six.
As for the other die, it was nudged by the rebound and the inertia of the final die, moving from its initial six as well.
The room became mortally silent!
Gild, who had given up on living, Luhan, and the boy who would lose his hand if they lost, all stared at the result. Their joyful expressions froze instantly, their eyes turning red with helplessness.
The three dice lay at one, a miserable one each, making a total of three... According to their words, if somehow they rolled threes, it meant they'd become monks in a church and abandon their worldly desires. Though here, it would be more like being a monk.
"I'm done!" Luhan closed his eyes as he fainted. The rest of the group, along with Gild, slumped back into their seats, utterly exhausted. They stared blankly at the dice, each feeling the urge to cry.
"Ha, ha, ha!"
"So, can I take my things now?" Jun asked as he stood up.
"What are you talking about? You might roll three ones too; you can't take anything without rolling your turn." One of the guards, crying over their bosses' loss, shouted.
"You think that's possible?" Trevor glared at the guard who made the remark.
"No, no, they've got a point," Jun looked at Trevor and said. "Show them your luck, Trevor. Win this game."
"Watch closely!" Trevor shouted as he held the dice and shook them vigorously. When he rolled, Jun didn’t bother to interfere, as any result would be good for them.
And after the roll, Trevor proudly celebrated his victory in front of the sobbing losers who had called her a cheater. Jun only took the sword and the magic book. As for the rest, he told Trevor to take it, but she said Chung could have it.
"You're not going anywhere!" Luhan shouted, but before his cries could be heard, a sword slashed his throat.
Crack! Crack! Crack!
The shadows surrounding the place entered and began slaughtering the guards that protected these people.
They spared those who had only come to gamble, but they definitely wouldn’t let anyone involved with this mafia leave alive.
"Alright, now you'll tell me what you do here and where the others are."
"No, please, don’t kill me."

Shadows are special soldiers who, beyond fighting, focus on gathering information.

I think we can assume that the shadows are what comes close to commandos or special forces and his personal guards. (soldiers he personally trained for assassination, reconnaissance, infiltration and protection missions)
