Chapter 80: The Great Battle (1)
Suddenly, the atmosphere turned grim. No matter the moment, the battle-hardened veterans showed their murderous intent, and it felt as if everyone had been thrown into the midst of an intense battlefield.
Sensing the changes around him, Kain was stunned for a moment. With a slightly dazed expression, he turned to look at Jun's silhouette.
The same sixteen-year-old young man, yet his presence suddenly loomed larger in front of him.
At that moment, Jun didn’t notice the changes happening around Kain and the other subordinates. Instead, he felt the powerful murderous intent coming from the thousands of warriors behind him.
With a team like this, leaving aside facing criminals who outnumbered them ten to one, Jun would even dare to face an official army of the same size—aand win without hesitation!
Jun looked at Shen and said, "Stay with the archers; we will take care of the infantry."
"Your orders are understood, my Lord."
"Good, let's form the ranks."
…
"Old Li, a cavalry group is heading toward our location."
Just as Jun was rapidly advancing, a pigeon suddenly descended from the sky, landing on a rock in the forest by the main road. On the rock stood Boo, the military advisor for the White Crane Assassins. He raised his right hand and caught the pigeon. Boo untied the note from its leg before handing it to Old Li.
"Ha ha ha, since they’re coming here, we should welcome them. Send my orders: slow the attack. It wasn’t easy to lure them here; I don’t want to give our guests a poor welcome!"
"Yes, boss!"
Boo quickly relayed the relevant instructions, and everyone began moving. But beyond the group was a woman wearing attire similar to Kyou Kai. Upon seeing the movements, she asked, "Is all of this to try to claim me?"
"It's a sacred rite. Your separation is honorable. Do you plan to kill him?"
"Of course I’ll kill him." Yuu Ren had heard rumors that Jun was approaching her village, so she decided to greet him before he arrived.
…
About half a minute later, Jun, at the front of his group, finally spotted the battlefield forming before them.
Criminals, bandits, and assassins, each with very different attire, densely filled the main road, the forest, and the hillside.
Surrounded by this massive group, Jun's vanguard from Wei looked no different than stars in a night sky, isolated on a steep slope near the main road.
The unbearable stench of blood hung in the air. Countless bodies of bandits, highway robbers, soldiers, and horses were scattered along the road from the main route to the hillside.
Seeing this spectacle, Jun ordered his soldiers to stop near the forest where his army lay hidden.
Next to Jun, Shao clenched his fists tightly and muttered furiously, "Sir, I’m going to slaughter them all!"
A soldier should not die at the hands of mere bandits and highway robbers.
"Have you forgotten my words? Calm yourself! Believe me, we’ll massacre these so-called assassins. However, blindly charging won’t do us any good. Look ahead, how many men do they have?"
Jun smiled slightly, his gaze landing on the giant man named Li. Then he looked toward the distant figures staring back at him and said, "Prepare the bows."
Crack! Crack! Crack!
From the towering trees, numerous figures pulled their bows. Without waiting for further orders, Jun watched as thousands of arrows swiftly flew toward the enemy.
Seeing this, Li smiled, made his men raise their shields, and ordered, "Direct attack."
"Sir..."
"Everyone must attack quickly."
