Chapter 105: It's Just the Beginning
"Do you think I couldn’t possess a few of your minions? It only took a little more effort than usual. You're so predictable, it’s almost funny that you'd attempt something as feeble as sealing someone like me."
Ethan stared at Terry, who had been possessed by Amon, and muttered through clenched teeth, "This is my victory."
Clang!
Looking down, Terry noticed the blood dripping into the cup on the ground, and realizing it was his own, his expression turned horrid.
"You'll pay for this!"
Bam!
Ethan's body slammed against a wall, but by now, pain had ceased to register. His eyes focused on the demon he had come to exorcise, and he yelled, "Your name gives me dominion over you, demon, and I have known your name from the start. You are Amon, and under my blood, I condemn you to eternal exile!"
In that moment, as if caught in a tornado, the demon’s spiritual form was torn from Terry’s body.
Ethan, blood dripping from his mouth, smiled faintly as he staggered backward, allowing the rest to play out.
Ahhhhhhh!
In mere seconds, the entirety of the demon Amon was sucked into the cup.
Terry's body, now free from possession, collapsed to the ground. His eyes fluttered, confused, before he fell into unconsciousness.
The demon's abilities were far beyond anything Ethan had ever faced. If he had emerged victorious, it was only because his experience had grown significantly.
When it was over, Ethan glanced at his agents, who were starting to recover, and asked, "Status of the operation?"
"Reporting survivors. Agents outside say they can’t distinguish friend from foe, so a general sweep has been ordered."
Zzzt… Ground team, what’s the status?
Ethan took the radio, brought it to his mouth, and replied, "Multiple casualties, dark entity neutralized, awaiting remains elimination."
Zzzt… Reinforcements en route; expect immediate assistance.
Ethan nodded slightly, but in that instant, a gust of wind from an unknown direction sent him flying.
"Everyone take cover!"
Boom!
"Evacuate immediately! Regroup with the elimination team up front!" An agent took command as the others quickly exited the church.
…
At the same time, military helicopters roared through the sky, their blades cutting through the air as they approached the abbey standing tall among the dark hills. Aboard, numerous soldiers prepared themselves—some battle-hardened, others tense with uncertainty.
All they knew was that an elite elimination squad had encountered serious trouble with a powerful dark entity, and they were the reinforcements.
Zzzt… Provide aerial illumination; land when the ground is secured.
"Sir, what’s the situation?" An exorcist not part of the Special Forces of Light looked at the man everyone was talking about and asked, eager for more information.
"Are you done wiping your tears and snot?" A man in his thirties, still bandaged from previous injuries, looked at the soldiers in front of him.
JJ, who appeared before the gathered exorcists and medics who had come to provide support, scanned them in silence.
"The regent needs reinforcements, so we will be his reinforcements. Any more questions?" JJ's gruff voice echoed through the helicopter cabin.
"No, sir!"
JJ nodded in satisfaction and shouted, "Then drop now!"
Zzzt… You heard the orders! Descend and locate the team that needs reinforcement ASAP!
Numerous armored soldiers rappelled down directly into the abbey grounds.
The church, with its dilapidated, ancient structures, stood out in the darkness. As the first squad landed and no immediate threat appeared, Rafael nodded and signaled the others to descend.
Zzzt. Traces of battle found on the ground, entering structures!
As the helicopters touched down, the ground shook under the force of their engines, and a cloud of dust rose, momentarily obscuring visibility.
Once all the soldiers were deployed, JJ descended, holding an assault rifle, and made his way toward the largest building.
Zzzt… Injured found, immediate medical assistance needed!
When the medics entered, what met their eyes was a group of agents sprawled on the ground, some with field dressings on their most severe wounds, others completely unconscious.
"My God..." JJ’s face twisted in horror as he took in the scene. This was more shocking than even the bloodiest missions he had been part of.
All of the fallen were elite agents with extensive experience. Some were dead, while others seemed barely recovering from the shock.
"Agent, where is the regent?" JJ approached the most conscious man and asked directly.
The agent looked up at JJ and answered, "The town is overrun with vampires. The battle is far from over."
Boom!
Zzzt… Our agents are engaging a horde of vampires, preparing for aerial support.
JJ frowned and shouted, "Leave some agents to guard the injured. The rest, come with me."
"Understood!"
