Chapter 19: A New Life
Five days had passed since then.
The cabin repair was progressing smoothly.
The original roof had been removed, and a new one made from felled trees was installed.
Jun also made sure to construct a proper bed, as his conscience demanded. This way of setting up a resting place puzzled the twins, who said they had never seen anything so elegant.
What remained was to repair an oven, clean the area where the firewood would be placed, and the interior would be more than ready to accommodate him.
Jun's lips curled into a satisfied smile as he looked at the cabin, which now seemed a bit more homely.
"This is enough to have a place to live; being a hermit won’t be so bad."
The fence could be rebuilt later with the help of the twins. The tools had already been ordered and would be delivered by an old man named Yao.
And soon, Jun felt a sense of stability as the fire that had been tormenting him finally extinguished. He then moved to the center of the vacant lot in front of the cabin.
"Today I'll put that into practice." Jun thought, looking at the training field he had designed himself.
It was a day to showcase the new ideas he had for battle, which he had been devising over the past few days.
The path Jun had chosen for himself was one where nothing mattered more than killing his opponent without exposing himself.
He had read the textbook from Trevor to build basic knowledge about martial arts, and based on that, he tried to approach power in various ways. In the end, he concluded that there were many brilliant things he could do with inner energy.
He shouldn’t use his great skills to expose himself within the body but rather outside it, gaining greater use of his inner energy.
When using his sword, he contained his power within it, but if he did it outside, his control was greater and the destruction unparalleled.
If it was difficult to respond to a situation immediately, he could create an environment where no immediate response was necessary.
By law, the space itself is imprinted with the power of the rules.
If you turn the surrounding area into a battleground advantageous to you, all previous deficiencies would be compensated.
Like in the last battle where many enemies surrounded him, that was a disadvantageous field in a closed environment, so he shouldn’t respond to those attacks but avoid them through external skills.
A curtain of dust?
Using his skills in addition to the sword might be a good idea, something he hadn’t considered until now.
Jun, after improving his skills, began to create some supplements he wanted to use in emergencies.
A smoke bomb, wind, or sound were some of the things Jun worked on silently so these things wouldn’t escape his jurisdiction.
It wasn’t an honor duel, so if they planned to attack him all together, he would use his advantages over the attackers.
“So…” Jun shifted his thoughts away from his other weapons; he wanted to focus on what he should excel at in a fight.
By using his inner energy more regularly, he could generate greater brutality in battle.
That’s what he had learned from the tests, although there was a downside: his skills would be harder to manage.
Fortunately, the necessary theory for conception was extracted from studying the intentions received from Trevor, who was the only one helping him.
Then, making a test, he moved his dark energy around his body externally. A cold aura began to surround him, but there was no real manifestation on the outside; it was impossible to manifest the inner energy for others to see unless they were masters.
One could notice it through the fear it instilled; it was an aura darkened by unjustifiable evil actions.
Jun was surrounded by this aura; it wasn’t his fault; it was common among people from Asura Village, who were accustomed to being brutal in their training.
At that moment, he moved. His training sword whistled in the wind, and every part of his tunic fluttered.
Boom!
The first impact hit a trunk, which exploded into a thousand pieces, a brutal demonstration of this new method that was simply aggressive.
There was no technique behind that blow, just one where he used his extreme speed and a fierce attack that could cut his enemies in two or send them flying several meters.
Jun had no explanation for this kind of strength; he thought this world wouldn’t be so normal if, at his age of only ten years, he could do this.
That explained a lot about the world he was in.
He remembered many things, among them the only one he read about the Warring States of China, which narrates the bold journey of the King of Qin and a boy who wants to become the commander of the heavens.
But as soon as he wanted to remember more, he couldn’t; there was nothing else to recall.
“It’s not so bad.” Jun murmured, looking at his reflection in a water puddle.
He was dressed completely in black, knowing from the twins that he could add details to his clothes when he turned fifteen.
That’s what he would do; at least it would be more visual and could play with his enemies' minds.
Even so, now he needed to train as much as he could and fight battles with the strongest in this place.
