Chapter 54: Ethan's Secret Power
When someone is on the brink of death, they often think about things far more significant than they usually would. Many in such situations analyze the reasons why, but Ethan, who was on a mission, didn’t question anything at all.
This was more than just a job; what he did was driven by his hatred for dark entities and his desire to eliminate them.
Some die for money and often regret it in the end, but those who die for a noble cause feel an unprecedented will that pushes them onto a path illuminated by meaning and purpose.
Crack!
In this situation, the intensity was so overwhelming that Anton didn’t think about surviving but rather about eliminating the threat. After all, that was the reason he was fighting.
With this thought in mind, Ethan, who was absorbed in the battle, adjusted his stance. After cutting off Slenderman’s hand and taking a heavy hit, he threw another grenade at the rapidly closing distance.
Slenderman’s healing was powerful, but at this moment, what mattered was stopping that healing.
Boom!
With a powerful force coursing through his body, the grenade that exploded at close range didn’t affect Ethan much.
But just as expected, Slenderman didn’t move, simply staring at Ethan, whose face now bore visible wounds.
“A truly diabolical thing.” A look of surprise crossed Ethan’s eyes as he realized the damage was minimal.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Creating distance and taking advantage of the confusion, Ethan fired three more shots, aiming for where he believed Slenderman’s weak point might be—its heart.
But the fire at the moment of the explosion was like a volcanic eruption, sending a massive wave of air that spread rapidly in all directions, destroying everything in its path.
The fire instantly filled Ethan’s vision, and he was momentarily surprised. “Something dangerous…”
Feeling the shockwave carrying gravel, Ethan covered the most vulnerable parts of his body and stopped attacking for just a few seconds.
Although he was concerned that Slenderman might attack before he had time to react, he needed to protect himself or risk severe injury if his eyes were damaged.
Crack!
But as expected, the damage wasn’t significant because the impact wasn’t directed at him. When the entire area shattered and the surroundings filled with smoke and dust, Slenderman’s furious roar echoed.
Suddenly, a powerful energy burst forth, and the smoke and dust in the sky dissipated instantly, revealing Slenderman, who had teleported once again.
The wounds on its body burned with flames, its non-human form appearing before Ethan, who, without hesitation, fired again.
“Compared to other supernatural beings, you’re a joke.” Ethan had the courage to say these words because, to him, they were true.
As he fired once more, he prepared another grenade and infused it with a trace of electrical energy using his special power before launching it.
If physical damage worked, albeit in small amounts, combining it with his supernatural power would inflict more harm.
Following the sound, Slenderman appeared instantly in front of Ethan.
“So fast?” Before Ethan could throw the grenade, his pupils contracted as he saw the demon’s enormous figure appear before him.
With only his sword in his left hand, he attacked with all his might, hoping to cut off another limb of the demon.
“I can’t get too close.” Ethan dodged some branches that emerged from the monster’s body while his clones moved around Slenderman.
Ethan’s tails represented a power, each one releasing a powerful clone that allowed him to intensify the battle as Slenderman moved from one position to another within a ten-meter radius.
Ethan’s true power was connected to that of an ancient Kitsune, one that had faced evil for generations and now resided within him.
That’s why his power symbolized something to him—something that wasn’t easily overcome.
As he moved back, his clones launched an attack, leaving Slenderman unable to counter them.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
