Chapter 53: A Fierce Battle
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Ethan moved like a phantom, thanks to his supernatural speed. Slenderman's branch attacks couldn't touch him, but this wouldn't last forever. While Ethan faced a disoriented Slenderman, a group of agents led by Liam reached the cabin where the girls were gathered and began evacuating them behind the squad.
Roarrrr!
The slender man facing Ethan was no longer humanoid. It had long since become a ferocious creature. Anyone who saw this monstrous being with its dark tentacles sprouting from its body and its enormous mouth, capable of splitting anything in half, would find it beyond their worst expectations.
Crack! Crack! Crack!
The temperature plummeted, trees cracked, and everyone felt a growing emptiness in their chests with each breath.
"Everyone, fall back and cover any exits behind me," Ethan ordered as he removed the coat covering his body, revealing his special hunter's suit.
"You heard the Regent! Cover his back!"
Hallie didn't fully understand what this meant, but seeing them place explosives on the ground, she knew their last resort was to blow this place to pieces, hoping to kill Slenderman in the process.
"Our priority is ensuring nothing interferes with the Regent," Liam declared with a fierce expression on his face.
At that moment, everyone was terrified, trembling with fear. Liam was no exception. He was deeply afraid, knowing that no matter what he did, he couldn't face this ancient demon head-on and survive.
He recalled the demon that had taken his entire family as if it had happened yesterday. Those vivid images exploded in his mind one after another, and he inevitably thought of stepping forward to help Ethan.
"You're not ready yet, Liam. Just watch and protect everyone else," Ethan murmured expressionlessly as he faced the demon in front of him.
"You will die..."
Hearing Ethan's words, Slenderman's ferocity surged several levels as it lunged at him, who stood with his sword raised.
Boom!
The first impact between Ethan's sword and the demon's attack was intense. The sword's sharp edge was powerful, cutting through the demon's chest. However, despite having armor beneath his clothing, Ethan was injured, forcing him to retreat.
As he stepped back, Ethan swiftly drew his pistol and fired two consecutive shots at Slenderman's chest as the creature teleported from one side of the containment area to the other.
Ahhhhhh!!!
Slenderman couldn't escape this dimension through its teleportation. As long as it tried to leave, it was always pulled back to this place.
Ethan glanced at the open wound on his body, noticing that it wasn't bleeding much. He ignored the pain, focusing solely on the fight. "You're a disgusting creature, you know that?"
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Seeing that the containment area was effective, Ethan realized there was a chance to suppress Slenderman without needing to seal it as he had initially planned.
With this realization, Ethan knew he was facing an ancient monster that had no way out and was enraged.
Demons once roamed the earth, but all were eradicated by medieval warriors in ancient times. This was likely the first time a monstrous entity had been seen in centuries.
"In both life and death, I am the salvation of my own path." Ethan raised his sword while simultaneously firing his pistol.
Within seconds, the open wound on his arm, though not healed, had stopped bleeding, allowing him to continue the fight without being at a disadvantage.
Crack!
"Die and perish!"
Enhancing his senses, Ethan realized that Slenderman had moved. Amid the dust, he pulled out a grenade and hurled it with force.
There weren't many opportunities for experimentation in this fight.
Boom!
A massive explosion erupted, shattering trees and shaking the earth.
Standing just a few meters away, Ethan saw the grenade detonate on Slenderman's body as it continued charging at him. Then everything was shrouded in a cloud of dirt.
The unfortunate consequence of the smoke mixed with dirt was that it obstructed his vision, leaving him to rely solely on sensing the dark energy.
"Did it take any damage?"
To avoid that possibility, he aimed his pistol and switched the ammunition to special demon-killing rounds. After reloading, he switched to his other revolver, and in no time, both were loaded.
As he finished loading his guns, both barrels were pointed in Slenderman's direction. Ethan raised his coat to shield his eyes from the debris, and he endured the blows with minimal pain.
"I've got you!"
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Three powerful shots echoed through the smoke, each hitting the demon, which appeared to be on the move.
Roooarrrrr!!!
Slenderman roared in frustration, unable to kill Ethan easily because he was a supernatural being.
If Ethan were an ordinary person, he wouldn't have been able to move at this point.
But Ethan was far from ordinary. Drawing on his fox power, he created five glowing black clones in an instant.
These clones emerged from his tails, resembling silhouettes of Ethan wielding swords.
Bang! Bang!
Crack!
As Ethan fired two more shots, a hand appeared in front of him. Quickly, he dropped his pistol, raised his sword, and severed Slenderman's arm.
