Chapter 22: Child's Play
Are the problems in this town serious? The truth is, for Ethan, this is child's play.
He was used to facing truly brutal dark entities, many of which had never forced him to use his supernatural abilities. Unless it was a life-or-death fight, he wouldn't use that power.
The truth is, he despised his power. After the death of his childhood girlfriend, Ethan despised everything related to supernatural entities, including himself.
After finishing discussing the data in person, Ethan returned to the school.
"Are you coming to eat something?" Bobby greeted Ethan from afar as he approached the cafeteria.
As a new teacher, like him, he could eat and make friends. In fact, while following Bobby, besides a man and two women, Ethan felt a bit old, being only twenty-five.
"I didn't have the chance to greet you more closely since you left early. Nice to meet you; I'm Alicia."
"Hello."
The first person to extend her hand was a very cordial woman. She seemed quite older but smiled nonchalantly, as if she were open to friendships.
Ethan shook her hand gently and said, "Ethan Winchester, history teacher."
"I'm Cesar, like the one in the movie, ha, ha, ha. I'm in charge of mathematics." The next person to speak to him was a slightly robust man with short hair and glasses.
Ethan greeted the teachers, who were also going for lunch. "Nice to meet you all."
To be honest, Ethan didn't look only twenty-five years old. Due to his training and special drugs, he appeared a bit older. Of course, he wasn't haggard; he just looked a bit older.
"What do they serve in this place?"
"The best of the best; don't worry, the school feeds us very well."
Bobby didn't hold back and said, "Well, I think the least you should do, Cesar, is eat."
"You don't understand. At my age, the greatest pleasures in life are not having sex but eating." Cesar said as he entered the back of the cafeteria.
Ethan followed them and was surprised they were serving steak with potato soup. He had never tried this type of soup. "Give me more meat, please."
"Give him more meat; those muscles aren't just for show." Bobby joked with the cooks when Ethan asked for more food.
"Just a little more..."
"You should give me a hand with the lacrosse team," said Bobby, hoping this male teacher would give the current team a better level.
Ethan nodded and said, "I would like to see the lacrosse team. At least this school enjoys a strong team thanks to you."
"Of course."
Alicia, who was serving herself numerous pancakes, said, "I've told you many times, there should be a women's lacrosse team."
"A contact sport, I think that wouldn't work," Ethan subtly expressed his point of view.
"Of course, we can't have a women's lacrosse team. The girls don't know how to play lacrosse!" Bobby said it in a louder voice than usual.
Once they sat down to eat, Ethan listened to the teachers talk about the biggest disasters that had happened at the school.
Once lunchtime was over, classes continued, but Ethan, having had few classes, didn't attend any more in the afternoon.
As Bobby had told him, lacrosse training would continue, which he was interested in watching.
