Chapter 008: Friendships
"Alright, as you know, we have a new history teacher who will also handle corrections for disrespectful students. Let's give a warm welcome to Ethan Winchester."
All the teachers, who were busy organizing their projects, greeted Ethan with a round of applause.
"Welcome to hell."
"Let's not scare the new teacher; he's probably just getting familiar with the town."
Bobby looked at the other teachers with a bit of annoyance and said, "Alright, it doesn't matter. Mr. Winchester, you have the desk in the back on the right."
Ethan nodded and said, "I thought we would have individual offices."
"I thought I'd be a university professor, and look where I ended up," Bobby replied, his eyes filled with exhaustion.
These people were certainly pleasant. Many didn't speak much because they were analyzing the new teaching program they had to use for the upcoming courses, as it wasn't always the same.
Being here was undoubtedly unnecessary, so after the meeting, Ethan said goodbye to everyone and decided to take a walk around the town.
He didn't know any places here. This place was different from the city; it was much more peaceful. He needed something like this, as being surrounded by so much blood at times was very harmful.
"I can assure you, it was a terrorist attack, and no train derailed."
"How can you be so sure?"
"My father got many of those weird warnings he sometimes receives. They weren't clear, but they were told to be on alert in case any attack had escaped."
Ethan was intrigued by this conversation, which caught his interest. "Are you talking about that train?"
The boy who was talking with his friend looked at the stranger and then turned his attention back to his friend: "Do you know this guy, Scott?"
Scott shook his head repeatedly and pointed: "No, but it looks like his suit is very expensive. He might be from the city."
"Those are signs." Stiles felt excited to be close to something and turned to greet Ethan, who had been having a coffee in the restaurant where the boys had entered.
"Do you mind if we sit at your table?"
Ethan shook his head and said, "Not at all. You could share what you're talking about, and I'll have some company."
Scott asked in a not-so-low voice, "What are you doing?"
"I've got it under control. Maybe I'm getting us a free lunch," Stiles said as he sat down across from Ethan. "I'm Stiles Stilinski, and my grumpy friend next to me is Scott McCall. You heard us talking about that train."
Scott had no choice but to sit with his friend across from the stranger they had just met, and he only smiled awkwardly.
Ethan put his coffee aside and said, "Are we talking about the same train?"
"Yes, that train. I see you're new in town, so I guess you were on that train."
"Yes, I was on that train." Ethan nodded repeatedly with a look full of mystery.
Many didn't know it, but Ethan unconsciously developed a different personality to handle various situations with different people. At this moment, he was acting friendly, as if he were an acquaintance with the young men his age.
At this point, Scott asked, "Are we talking about the same train?"
"Yes."
"Yes."
Stiles looked at Ethan and asked, "What really happened?"
"Bloody," Ethan said, expressing his seriousness in his subsequent silence.
