Chapter 88: A Sacrifice for Humanity
Humanity, regardless of skin color, name, origin, or even place of birth, has at some point acted with humanity for the good of others. Feeling compassion and a desire to survive, regardless of what happens, is something that characterizes us as a species.
Scientific studies have shown that a person with a desire to die, when thrown into the sea and sinking into the water, will swim to the surface just to breathe. This demonstrates two things: their desire to live and their intention to only end a stage of their life.
Everyone desires to live a peaceful and happy life, seeking happiness in marriage, merging their life with another person regardless of what a piece of paper says, or proving their worth in the world based on success.
Throughout history, there have always been conflicts and wars, life-or-death struggles, and even committing immoral acts just to survive. Dark entities have resurfaced, threatening all plans for the future of humanity. The discovery that dark entities have existed since ancient times has generated extreme concern, knowing that they are becoming increasingly threatening.
Many people overlook the fact that they create their own security and happiness. It could be sworn that no one would think that many people suffer, cry, die, and kill to ensure a peaceful day for civilians.
"Is that their job?" This is the first thing many say when trying to receive praise just for doing their job. Is public safety just a job? Dying in wars and conflicts with dark entities is not a job; many of the agents who die and fight day by day agree that dark entities should be revealed to the public.
"They need to know the truth about the end of their world." However, it is too early to reveal something that would change that peaceful and happy life into unpredictable fear and terror.
The first thing to ensure is trust in the government. Those who defend that security must have the confidence to eliminate 99.99% of dark entities. However, even now, dark entities are something that many informed people overlook. As soon as they learn about the abilities of these entities, they feel the fear of being prey.
A human is considered the most intelligent being and, by excellence, capable of surviving and leading underground. But suddenly, all that power and authority are slowly taken away by strange things that arise out of nowhere.
"Yes, even in dreams, I can't be safe. I should work on my days to create a happy world." Many had ambitions, crazy ideas, and personal feelings.
...
In a very messy hotel room, a bespectacled man murmured, "Yes, with this post, I will have the necessary recognition for people to realize the truth."
"I'm not lying to them!"
"These things are killing us while you live in a lie."
How important is the truth in a person's life? Every time this topic arose, researcher Peter had the same opinion: the truth and knowledge are very, very important!
"Let me tell you something in this new recording. There is only one end in this world, and it's the demons."
Peter could still vividly remember the incident that changed his life a year ago. He had just been fired from a news station for a lack of good reports and the decline of the reports he delivered. For a while, he had been investigating a kidnapping case; the report was going in the right direction, and just when he was about to finish, the kidnapper was suddenly killed just before reporting his suspicions to the police.
Yes, he personally witnessed people in combat uniforms killing that kidnapper.
"Association of Light." Indeed, the only thing he could see on the uniforms besides the weapons was the abbreviated name Association of Light, which led him to absolutely nothing.
He had photos, recordings, and compelling evidence for people to believe him. Initially, he believed that directly publishing all the information he discovered would bring him trouble. However, after a long time of warning and investigating the matter, he needed something to boost its impact. Therefore, he was about to publish all the information on the internet.
"Yes, yes, yes, all of you will listen to me."
Knock! Knock! Knock!
The sound of the door brought Peter out of his thoughts.
"I'm coming!"
"The food is here!" Peter murmured as he ran to the door.
"Thanks for the food," said Peter. Upon opening the door, his movements came to a sudden halt.
"I'm sorry, Peter, we're not the food delivery guy." A man in a black suit warmly smiled. Beside him, another man remained silent.
"Who are you?" Peter asked with a trembling voice. Instinctively, he felt that something was not right.
"You should know us; we are..." The man in the black suit stopped himself from saying the last words and pulled out a business card.
Peter held the card, and his body froze upon seeing the name. "What do you want...? If it's about my research, I won't publish anything. I swear!"
"Mr. Peter, may we come in?" Without waiting for an answer, the two men entered Peter's room.
Unable to do anything more, Peter closed the door slowly. When he returned to the room, he stopped at a safe distance from the men in suits.
"We are the cleaning team of the Association of Light. Our main job is to clean up any kind of trash that endangers and exposes our organization to the public," said the man in the black suit.
"What's your name? What do you want? You know I won't say anything if you leave my room. I can leave the country." Peter was desperate.
"My name is just the cleaner... And about going to another country, it can't be possible. Well, you'll end up in the same place and expose yourself to the same danger as here." The man in the black suit, who calls himself the cleaner, smiled.
"You know, if all the information you gathered in such an incredible way were to be revealed, what would happen?"
"The world would realize the demons... They would inevitably have to expose themselves to the public and reveal what they know about the demons," Peter murmured, totally convinced.
"Hahaha! Mr. Peter, you are a very enthusiastic person. Do you really think people in this country would be scared by your words?"
After saying that, the cleaner stood up and pulled out a weapon. As he attached a silencer, he looked at Peter, who collapsed on the floor with a shocked face.
"Let me tell you a story, Mr. Peter. The world won't listen to your words, and even if they do, no one will believe you. In the hypothetical case that they believe you, it only takes a month for them to stop talking about you and the demons."
"Humans are a very busy race; they have fun looking for other things and forget what no longer entertains them. The world has taken care of silencing what you are investigating; many soldiers die just so you and people around the world can continue living your life in tranquility," said the cleaner with a cold voice.
"Please, let me live!" Peter doesn't want to die.
"I won't say anything, I swear. I'll forget everything I've been doing." Just when he thought he had persuaded the cleaner, two bullets hit his head.
Bang! Bang!
The silencer prevented the shots from attracting the neighbors' attention. While smoke still rose from the gun chamber, the man in the black suit shook his head.
"With this, it's the fourth damn idiot."
"Is it right to eliminate them?" asked the other man in a suit who had not spoken until now.
"We can't lock them up in prison, just as we can't let them go free and hope they don't say anything. That was their decision, and this was the organization's decision. The public may have an opinion, but the reality of this fucked-up world is ours," said the cleaner as he walked to clean up the mess.
"I understand, sir; I will take care of the cleanup."
"Good, I'll go back and file the report."
...
In a private room of a prestigious restaurant, Anton was sitting across from a very special old man.
"Are you saying that they have spotted werewolves in this area?" After saying that, Anton delicately drank a cup of alcohol. His eyes evaluated the expression of the old man in front of him; he felt nothing upon hearing the words he said suddenly.
"You are one of the youngest, and many hunters have died eliminating other supernatural beings, so your father assigned you this case before you left the country," said the old man with a subtle smile.
"I don't know; I've never faced werewolves before, and I don't want to neglect my base." Anton disagreed with this mission.
He knew better than anyone that his efficiency on the battlefield was outstanding. What does his father think of sending him to hunt werewolves?
"The data that has been collected is very numerous; that werewolf is different from others, so you must be careful," said the man before leaving.
Anton silently looked at the folder on the table, sighed as he finished smoking his cigarette, and muttered, "Part of me wants to get drunk."
