Chapter 84: Mutation
Roarrrr!
The creature in front of Anton was so fierce that it had ceased to be human for a long time. Anyone who saw that ferocious two-legged creature, bones protruding from its robust body, and a pair of horns that could touch the ceiling coming from its head, would shudder.
Crack! Crack! Crack!
The temperature dropped, the walls cracked, and everyone felt a void in their chest that grew larger as they breathed.
"Everyone step back and cover the exit behind me." Anton gestured as he removed the coat covering his body, revealing his special Exorcist Priest outfit.
"You heard the Guardian; let's cover his back!"
Bowden didn't know what they meant by this, but seeing explosives being placed on the building's walls, he knew that the last memory these people would use would be to collapse the entire building with the demon inside.
"Our priority is to prevent the interruption of the Guardian's exorcism," Rafael said with a fierce expression on his face.
At these moments, everyone felt fear, and they couldn't help but tremble. Rafael was no exception; he was very scared and knew that no matter what he did, he couldn't fight head-on against that incarnated demon and survive.
He remembered that demon that killed his entire family. It seemed like it was just yesterday, and those vivid images exploded in his mind one after another, inevitably leading him to think of stepping forward and helping Anton.
"You're not ready yet, Rafael. Just watch and take care of everyone else," Anton muttered expressionlessly as he looked at the demon in front of him.
"Arrogant human..."
When the demon heard Anton's words, its ferocity increased several levels, and it headed towards where Anton was, holding his sword in the air.
Boom!
The first impact between Anton's sword and the demon's attack occurred. The edge of the divine sword was powerful, so it cut the demon's chest. However, Anton, despite having armor beneath his clothes, was also injured, causing him to step back.
But as he retreated, Anton threw two bottles of holy water that covered part of the demon's body.
"Ahhhhhh!!!"
"Accursed priest, why do you carry holy water if your belief doesn't rely on this trashy religion?!" The demon shouted as some parts of his body began to smoke.
Anton looked at the open wound on his body, and seeing that it wasn't bleeding much, he ignored the pain and focused only on the fight. "You are a very unpleasant thing; did you know that?"
"[Mission in Progress: Failed]"
When he saw that the mission had failed, Anton frowned, and only then did he realize that he hadn't saved anyone until now. Since the result had been delivered, he was sure that the person behind the demon's incarnation had now died.
Realizing this, what he was facing now is a demon mutation that incubated in a human until it could have its own body. Demons once touched the earth, but all of them were eliminated by medieval warriors in ancient times, and it could be said that it was the first time seeing a demon in hundreds of years.
"Holy light of truth, guide me in this battle and grant me an optimal outcome to remain your faithful warrior." Anton murmured as he controlled the divine energy through his control ability.
In just a few seconds, the open wound on his arm, though not completely healed, stopped bleeding, and now he could continue the fight more calmly.
Crack!
"Die and perish!"
Enhancing his senses, Anton realized that the demon had moved, and in the midst of the dust, he pulled out a grenade and tossed it with force.
There weren't many opportunities to experiment in this fight.
Boom!
A massive explosion rocked the building, breaking walls, shattering glass windows, and making the earth tremble. Anton, just a few meters away, could see how the grenade exploded in the demon's body, who kept running in his direction, and then everything was covered by a cloud of dust.
The downside of all this was that the smoke combined with the dust made it difficult for him to see, and he could only sense the dark energy.
"Did it suffer no damage?"
To avoid that possibility, he pulled out one of his revolvers and switched the ammunition to a special one for killing demons. After loading the bullets, he switched to the other revolver, and in no time, both were loaded.
As soon as he finished loading his guns, two sharp stones headed in his direction, so Anton simply raised his jacket to prevent the fragments from falling into his eyes and endured the blows without much pain.
"I got you!"
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Three powerful shots echoed in the smoke, and each of them hit the demon that seemed to be in motion.
Roooarrrrr!!!
"Human, how have you injured me?" As these words in Latin sounded, Anton could feel a dark aura rushing towards him at great speed.
If he were an ordinary person, he might be unable to move at this moment.
But Anton was by no means an ordinary human, so, staying strong, he raised his defenses with the divine aura surrounding his body.
Bang! Bang!
Crack!
The moment Anton fired two more shots, a hand appeared in front of him. So, quickly dropping his pistol, he raised his sword and cut off the demon's arm.
