Chapter 60: The Details
After reaching a bus stop, both continued moving through common places where a girl might be. Therefore, Anton and Rafael headed straight to a private school called Oxford. According to intelligence information, the girl ran in that direction.
In this private school, online news reported that all girls in a dormitory suddenly fell into a prolonged coma without apparent reasons. From Anton's perspective, this was probably caused by an unknown entity.
Coma is a state of prolonged loss of consciousness that can be caused by various problems: traumatic head injury, stroke, brain tumor, or drug or alcohol poisoning. However, the studies of the students indicated that none of these symptoms or diseases were detected, so it was for unknown reasons.
But according to the information collected so far, some of the girls entered a state of chronic brain dysfunction where they showed no signs of consciousness.
All of this was obtained through the brief investigation of the new team that Anton had formed after his recent work was much more effective.
When he reached the school gate, Anton looked up at the massive sign on top.
"Oxford Private School."
The sign was very imposing. According to Rafael's words, this was a private school that only opened on Saturdays and Sundays. The students here came from outstanding families, and it was only open to a few students.
"It wasn't a good idea to travel by train," Anton said with a frustrating expression.
"The support team is on the way; they won't take long," Rafael said as he drank some water. "I'll check the surroundings; she might be close."
"Alright..." Anton calmly looked at the beautiful yellow trees in the distance and walked slowly through the front door.
Not long after leaving the private school, Anton saw a girl running quickly in his direction.
It was the same one he had seen on the train.
When Anton saw her, the girl saw Anton.
"Hello!"
The girl hurriedly asked anxiously, "Did you see a piece of paper with a drawing? Your friend might have found it; it's very important."
Anton nodded upon hearing these words.
This girl really attached so much importance to this piece of paper. This made Anton even more curious.
What did the content of that paper mean to her?
Was it really just a drawing?
Why was she so anxious now? No, maybe it was related to a mysterious ability.
Anton obviously wouldn't refuse to give it back. He handed the folded paper to the girl after taking it from his pocket.
The girl opened it and immediately let out a sigh of relief.
This paper was the one she had dropped earlier.
The girl bowed to Anton with gratitude and thanked him repeatedly.
Just as the girl was about to leave, an indescribable amount of anxiety covered Anton's body.
After feeling that sensation, Anton tightly held the girl's hand and looked at her left arm.
"This mark..."
In the stories of different religions, there were signs that meant a legend of terror or bad omens. It was mainly based on ancient religions and beliefs that are still very famous to this day.
Anton didn't expect that something like that would be related to a dark entity. In fact, he didn't believe that such a mark could be so clearly etched on human skin.
If someone played with something cursed and it was related to a dark entity, they might become victims and end up in serious trouble.
No wonder some students at this school ended up in a coma so suddenly.
They were courting death by playing with something cursed.
After letting go of the girl's hand, Anton watched as she covered her arm again with discomfort.
Just as the girl was about to leave, Anton suddenly asked, "It must be difficult to go through your days being a victim of that monster."
The girl's movement abruptly stopped. She turned her head and looked at Anton in surprise.
Stammering, she asked, "What...? What do you mean...?"
"What I'm actually asking is, do you want to keep on living?"
The girl was stunned by this question.
After a few seconds, she knelt on the ground and lamented in tears.
Even though the school was private and only opened on Saturdays and Sundays, there were still some passersby around. Seeing Anton with a crying girl, they looked at him with a strange gaze, and some even called the police.
In the distance, Rafael ran with some agents from the Association of Light following him, all heading in their direction.
"Anton has taken care of it; he definitely discovered something," Rafael thought with admiration.
"Cough, cough!" Anton coughed and lifted the girl from the ground.
"Stop crying. Just tell me, do you want to live?"
"Yes!" The girl nodded frantically. Her eyes were filled with the desire to live. She grabbed Anton's right hand and asked pleadingly, "Can you really help me overcome this?"
"Of course." Anton smiled as he looked at the people behind him.
Rafael and the agents arrived. "Everything is fine; it seems to be a dark entity due to a cursed object. Notify the association and get ready."
"Yes, sir."
Anton waved his empty hand at the girl and said, "Don't stay on the ground; let's find a quiet place first."
Anton walked ahead, with the girl following closely behind, and soon they entered a quiet café.
"Tell me what happened in detail." After sitting down, Anton smiled kindly. At these moments, his kind priest personality came into play.
The girl nervously looked at the people in black suits who were watching her with vigilant eyes in her surroundings, and for a moment, she didn't know exactly what was happening.
Noticing this, Rafael moved his hand, and the agents left the café. "We're good people; don't worry, we're here to help you."
After Rafael said that, the girl looked back at Anton and nodded when she saw him. Perhaps it was because Anton's smile was very friendly; the girl's mood stabilized a bit.
"My name is Elizabeth."
"I'm Anton, and he is my partner, Rafael. We work on these kinds of problems and take care of helping people in your situation," Anton said reassuringly.
Elizabeth nodded. After calming down, she said, "A week ago, it was my little sister's birthday. We organized a party with some friends at her elementary school, and the older brothers also came."
Anton nodded and asked, "What happened next?"
"At that moment, everyone was drinking and got a little drunk. A friend suggested playing a game."
"What kind of game?" Without showing the slightest worried expression, Anton asked naturally.
"It's the labyrinth game." Thinking about it now, Elizabeth was quite scared.
Anton looked at Rafael and nodded.
Understanding the message, Rafael quickly stood up from the table and went outside the café. Once outside, Rafael ordered, "I want you to investigate any game on the internet called 'The Labyrinth Game,' as well as the girl's family; there might be problems."
"Yes, sir!"
Rafael didn't know why, but he felt something completely new; it wasn't a simple anomaly.
