Chapter 57 - Armament
Anton entered the training room and walked towards the different tables with carefully prepared weapons. He looked into the distance at Rafael gathering the agents into their assigned groups.
In fact, just before the armament list was issued for the units, he contacted the department to request specific weapons he wanted to carry. The last time he fought a physical anomaly, its skin was too tough to be penetrated enough to cause real damage to that monster. Therefore, weapons created by the world's top arms companies were sent under the supervision of the Association.
When Rafael gathered all the unit agents, Anton took a Desert Eagle .50 AE and showed it to the people in front of him. "For a year now, soldiers facing dark entities have complained about the demand for weapon selection."
Anton looked at everyone and said, "Not only did we have to consider the urban field where we faced dark entities, but we also had to take into account that we are not dealing with humans with bulletproof vests."
"We needed more firepower than usual, so they sent us this: The Desert Eagle .50... Unlike the 500 Magnum, the Desert Eagle .50 AE has less recoil, more shot capacity, and above all, is a semi-automatic pistol. In short, it makes it easier to use in crucial moments when facing an anomaly. However, when it comes to leveling the force, the 500 Magnum is more powerful."
"Considering the fact that the Desert Eagle .50 is not comfortable for everyone, the Arsenal AF-1 Strike One pistol meets our requirements. With a capacity of 17 cartridges (9mm), this pistol will also be in use."
Leaving the pistols on the table, Anton pointed to the shotgun on the shelf.
"The MP-150 Última shotgun is an intelligent shotgun designed to synchronize with personal gadgets, with enough technology to record everything in HD and access its videos from external devices. It is compatible with 12/76 mm cartridges. It is a semi-automatic shotgun with individual reload, so the shooter will have to load the cartridges one by one inside, but then they won't have to use a manual slide mechanism to fire them. The range is between 50-70 meters." Anton passed the weapon to Rafael for display.
Then, he pointed to the shelf with two specific designs, the P90 IR/P90 LB.
"It is the best submachine gun for urban combat and confrontation in very confined spaces. Due to the problem of dark entities, this weapon is ideal for fighting anywhere."
Everyone watched attentively as Rafael showed the P90 LB with its mounted sight. The perfect weapon for urban encounters, surpassing the MP5 in lethality and penetration.
The X-M5 rifle will replace the M4 rifle, and the XM250 machine gun will replace the famous M249 SAW. But now, they will be called the M5 rifle and M250 machine gun in the agent units.
Due to the need for better penetration, the MP5 rifle and the M250 machine gun will provide significant improvements in accuracy, range, and overall lethality. They are also lightweight, fire more lethal ammunition, mitigate recoil, and provide better barrel performance, including integrated reduction of noise and flash at the barrel mouth.
Their ammunition will be the 6.8 mm, surpassing the 5.56 mm offered by the previous weapons.
Therefore, the Association of Light had to build a special facility to produce the 6.8 mm ammunition, which will be ready in the early years to come.
"These two new weapons exclusively for the special containment forces against dark entities in the world use an xm 157 optical sight that offers a laser rangefinder, a smart target lock, a ballistic calculator, infrared invisible lasers, and unsurpassed vision quality."
"I want you to be aware; you must always be focused during raids. If you hesitate even once to shoot, your heads will be the ones rolling on the ground." Anton had to be clear on this point. It was impossible to get used to the new feeling he had in front of new recruits. Even if he had led teams to eliminate dark entities before, everything was progressing too fast, and he couldn't even notice the small details.
He wasn't exactly sure what was happening with dark entities in the world, making his lens a continuous torment in being useful in some way when the bomb explodes.
In the eyes of the new agents of the Association of Light, Anton was a powerful soldier with experience and an innate ability to eliminate dark entities.
However, only Anton knew that deep in his heart, he felt respect, a respect for failure and nervousness at the possibility of losing lives in future raids.
Anton wasn't blind; he knew that losses throughout the raids were inevitable. However, he would ensure to train and prevent unnecessary deaths.
"Remember that you are all protected by a secret law of the nation. No matter what happens, as long as you belong to the Association of Light, you can move and be exempt from the laws." Anton looked at Rafael, signaling to continue the program.
From start to finish, everyone paid close attention to Anton's words. According to the little information they had, the man in front of them was a Guardian Bishop, belonging to a group of the most powerful Exorcists who faced dark entities, being a soldier who might be required in different parts of the country in the future.
Therefore, they knew that the only thing they should pay special attention to is the orders and words of the Guardian.
"In the rank, it doesn't matter at all; you are agents, and I am your superior. The teams were assigned; you will follow the orders of your respective superiors." Anton looked at his smart tablet and nodded, seeing that everything had been explained in the best way.
Finally, it was Rafael's turn to take control of the situation. Seeing that Anton finished speaking, he insisted and said, "Agents! Your weapons and equipment are here; start training and adapting to the equipment you desire!"
"Salute!" The soldiers saluted Anton and quickly moved to the shooting range. Everyone was focused, moving swiftly to their assigned training area.
When everyone disappeared, Anton walked towards Rafael and asked, "You have more time with them; what do you think will be the result?"
"Sir, some of the new recruits understand the depth of the monsters we face. If I may say so, many of them may die." Rafael replied, almost as if he understood Anton's thoughts, he said, "However, they are selected for this division. In the end, everything depends on the type of anomaly we face."
Anton nodded in acknowledgment, "Even if we had a year to train, none of that will matter once they have an anomaly in front of them. Prepare the team; we may have to act much sooner than expected."
"Yes, sir, I'll have the team ready for the upcoming raids." Rafael retreated to the shooting range to ensure everything proceeded quickly.
"We'll have to exert more effort than usual..." Anton looked at Rafael moving quickly to the shooting range.
According to his connections, he knew that the base he was in was both the strongest and weakest. Rafael and the alpha team were the best they offered; the other teams barely passed the initial exam to belong to the Association of Light.
All of this was due, according to his speculations, to the government choosing to secure other cities with experienced soldiers and leaving this city in the hands of experienced agents.
According to the appearance rates, dark entities didn't only appear in urban areas; they usually stayed on the coasts and small towns.
"We're running out of time..." Anton shook his head. He needed to contact logistics to find out what the new programs were for the raids.
