Chapter 46: Changes
In a dimly lit room, the glow of various computers illuminated Moon, who hadn't slept in the past thirty hours while researching everything Anton had asked her. Being a request from a ShadowBane, she was more than eager to complete the task with excessive detail.
Moon, a thirty-year-old girl, wore a long-sleeved shirt and shorts, sitting in an armchair while eating a triple-meat hamburger. Her careless attire might give a bad impression to anyone who sees her, but she is indeed a very attractive girl.
Having gathered all existing information online, Moon smiled and immediately called Anton, who should be recovering from his fatigue.
"Hello, hello, hello," mumbled Moon after the other party answered.
Anton, who had received Moon's call, asked, "Do you have it?"
"Do you know this has nothing to do with the supernatural world, right?" Moon asked, opening her eyes wide at the myriad of information before her.
Anton sighed with a bit of impatience and said, "I'm aware they are mobsters, but I don't exactly know who exactly runs this area. I don't want to direct my anger recklessly; I am a professional."
Moon didn't believe Anton, but it wasn't exactly her problem to supervise what this man was doing, so she quickly typed a few words. The sound was so fast that, within seconds, several pop-up windows appeared on her screen.
"I know some things that might be related to the Tarasov family... I don't want to go after a whole mafia, especially those who have power at The High Table. I just want to eliminate the trash involved in Mr. Smith's death; that would be it," said Anton as he packed weapons into his futuristic-looking basement, now free of the dampness it had before.
Aware that he had to be careful with certain people, his house had been under renovation this past week. Now, the bulletproof windows were still being tested, along with the walls being reinforced. Security cameras, sensors, and chemical defense systems were being installed under special orders from Sebastian. He made it clear that this would be Anton's only help because he needed to grow into a man.
Now, what Anton was doing was arranging all his weaponry in display cases, if not cleaning every bullet and gun that would be placed in this place. While he was at it, he talked to Moon, who was an expert in information retrieval and was the one who found old Smith, giving Anton the opportunity to talk to him a bit before he died.
Deep in his thoughts, Anton decided to focus on thoroughly cleaning his basement, which had undergone significant improvements. Besides being a warehouse, it was practically a secret bunker.
"Come on, Moon, I'm sure nothing bad will happen," said Anton while cleaning his new FVR-8 rifle, a true beauty. This weapon, the FVR-8, is equipped with a gas-assisted reloading mechanism that significantly reduces the time between shots, allowing for rapid successive firing without compromising the weapon's stability, something he needed now more than ever.
"Wait, did you just mention it involves the Tarasov mafia?" asked Moon, slightly confused as she choked on her food.
Anton's hand speed increased when he aimed at the Tarasov family. But when he realized what would happen if they found out that the heir of the ShadowBane family was targeting the Tarasov family, a true war would break out again, where the Association of Light and The High Table would be facing each other once more.
"This is insane, and you know it, Anton..."
With his speed, several computer screens quickly showed all the activities of the Tarasov family, as well as influential information and many more things.
Anton seemed to hear Moon's hard work and said calmly, "Well, you know exactly that I want to hunt down all those involved in Mr. Smith's deaths; at least he deserves that since he died recently."
Today's intelligence traffickers keep up with all the information. In addition to their own resources, their hacking skills are not low either. Moon, whom Anton contacted, is a very intelligent girl in this regard. For many things, she only needs to use the Internet to find information more easily. She gathers reliable information and then uses it to hunt down her prey.
Moon is a tracker who works only for the Association of Light after they saved her from a werewolf. Therefore, she has been working since then, helping the association. When it comes to exorcising demons, information traffickers like Moon are of great use. An example would be knowing the history of the demon they are facing, suppressing information from the inside out, and eliminating any kind of data that involves the exhibition of paranormal events. Some exorcists need to know the name of what they are facing to ensure their victory. Not everyone has the strength of Anton to eliminate them directly without needing to know their name. Of course, no one has the tools that Anton currently possesses, creating a huge difference.
Of course, someone like Moon also earns a lot of money despite serving only the Association of Light.
"There's very little information. I have to go to the dark web and ask my colleagues to find out."
Anton heard Moon while cleaning some high-caliber pistols.
"How much are you going to charge me? Because I don't want anyone to know, and it's a job I'm doing for the Association of Light, give me a price."
"Hmm..." Moon, who was eating her delicious hamburger, whispered, "Only a hundred thousand."
She didn't expect Anton to hit her. In fact, she didn't want to charge him from the beginning, but after stating the price, he accepted it.
"Give me your account number, and I'll transfer the money."
Anton responded as he sorted the bullets on different shelves. Moon on the other side of the call blinked; her hands, which continued pressing keys, stopped, and she asked in surprise, "Is Mr. Adult making a joke with me?"
In her memories, Anton should be a twenty-year-old young man who is the heir to a powerful family, but she never imagined that the privileges he had over this same family were so many that he could use as much money as he wanted.
"I'm poor, but I like to pay what I owe; don't bother me until you find what I asked for." Anton's response was calm, and after receiving the account number, he transferred the money immediately.
Moon's expression froze for a moment. She didn't expect the other party to hang up the call so quickly. "Damn Virgin Priest, people's offerings are huge."
The sound of curses, accompanied by the increasingly fierce sound of pressing keys, resonated in Moon's small room. A few minutes later, her phone rang, and when she saw the amount she had requested transferred to her account, she jumped out of her chair in excitement. "How many hamburgers are a hundred thousand dollars?"
As for Anton, after cleaning his bunker, he walked to his house, which was still being remodeled, and after dressing up, he walked to the exit of his house. Today, after all, he had to keep working.
