Chapter 43: A Bloodbath
People who have lived long enough know that a man with nothing to lose in his quest for revenge can become relentless and reckless, as he has no fears or consequences to hold him back. This might lead to extreme actions and dangerous behaviors.
Many in a shootout know exactly what to do and which key points to take into account. Old Smith, a man experienced in all types of combat, is exactly the man who knows what to do without fear or hesitation, knowing how to act even though he could die at any moment.
Before acting, he already knew what would happen after killing the three people in front of him, so he buried himself in the sofa the moment he killed the third person. The plan was that simple, but he overestimated himself. With a shot in the leg, he completely collapsed in front of the sofa, and when he could lift the pistol, he shot without thinking at the two men in front of him.
Bang!
The first shot was in the neck of one of the tattooed men, but at the same time, a shot penetrated his left shoulder. So, he acted quickly and aimed with all his might at the remaining man, who had shot at him again.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Old Smith, feeling the shots, clenched his teeth but still continued firing. When he saw that he could shoot several times in the chest of the remaining man on his right, he stopped squeezing the trigger.
To ensure his accuracy, he focused on shooting at the chest, even though they might have bulletproof vests, but he took the risk.
When the man felt the shots in his chest, he looked incredulously at the old man in front of him and fell to the ground.
The guys on the left—all of them—started running like crazy, consumed by fear. Seeing how both Santiago and Erick were dealt with, those still alive didn't have the courage to stay in this place.
But old Smith would do everything possible to murder them all, so seeing the last two remaining ones run away, he weakly raised his hand and fired two more times.
Bang! Bang!
Two loud shots echoed simultaneously; one bullet successfully penetrated the back of one of the men running on the right but still didn't stop.
Seeing how those two people escaped, old Smith began to spit blood, and his old hand at that moment dropped the pistol he had held with much will.
"In the end, two got away from me." Old Smith murmured as he leaned on the sofa without strength.
The whole room fell silent for a long time.
A few minutes later, Old Smith forcefully opened his eyes. Seeing that he couldn't move anymore, he took his cellphone from his pocket and turned it on.
His only strength managed to successfully press the power button, so when the phone turned on, he could see his wife's face on the wallpaper and smile.
"Darling, I hope to see you in heaven."
But at that moment, among the corpses, one moved and slowly got up. Santiago, who had only received a shot in the shoulder, thought he had died, but seeing that he could still move, he crawled weakly, feeling the pain in his body.
"Damn, old lunatic, do you know what you've done?" Santiago growled as he tried to get up and said, "The mafia is going to kill us. If we're still alive, those animals will look for our bodies and kill us again."
Old Smith opened his eyes, leaned over to pick up his weapon again, but fell to the ground due to the little strength left in his body.
Crack!
Santiago had finally managed to stand up, shook his head, and looked around in confusion, where there were only corpses. He looked at old Smith, furrowed his brows, walked towards where a pistol was, and picked it up.
"Damn old man, I knew there was something wrong with you since I saw you through that damn door." Santiago raised the pistol, looked at old Smith, who had stopped moving, and at the moment he was about to shoot, a gunshot echoed in the room.
Bang!
At that moment, old Smith, who had been on the ground, had turned to the side and luckily managed to shoot Santiago in the chin, and he stopped moving.
"Go to hell..." Old Smith murmured as he closed his eyes.
...
Moments earlier, in the warehouse where Anton keeps his weapons, Knowing that this place needed some renovations first, he began to store the weapons in special black boxes.
He had been preoccupied for days, so he first began to bring in the boxes of bullets he had ordered and the new weapons he had bought.
At that moment, a call came to his cellphone, to which Anton picked it up immediately and answered, "Speak."
"We have located the cellphone of the target you requested to track. His retirement has been sent to your data navigator, sir."
Anton, in just a few seconds, changed his expression and said, "Thank you for your services."
Taking a pistol from a table and a few magazines, Anton immediately left the house and headed to the location. Upon arrival, he looked at the familiar building and walked towards the door, which was indeed open.
Walking inside, Anton had pulled out his pistol and was very focused. He could see first-hand blood on the walls and on the floor, and a thick smell of gunpowder in the air.
When he entered the place, soon his eyes focused on the corpses, and as he kept walking, a cough was heard among the bodies lying on the floor.
"Cough..."
"Old Smith?"
"What are you doing in this place?" Old Smith recognized Anton's voice but couldn't open his eyes, so he said, "I'm alone, agonizing, but there are many girls in this place that need your help. Please help those who can still live."
Looking at the bloodied body of old Smith, Anton's eyes filled with disbelief, and he quickly approached that old man, trying to immediately check how bad he was.
