Chapter 26: Complications
It should be noted that the bullets from rifles like the one Anton had were of very high caliber and are normally designed for hunting very large wild animals. So, it is not complicated to imagine how powerful they were.
"Do not trust them; those killers are very strong, much more than an average person. Chriss, with his height and weight, was easily brought down by those men." Jessie's voice was heard at the side at that moment.
"As for the numbers, I only remember counting no more than three..." Rafael furrowed his brows and asked, "Are they very strong?"
"Yes, too much; they even seem not to be human." Anton, on the other hand, did not say a word. It was obvious that to be able to penetrate bulletproof glass with the power of a bow, the shooter must have a powerful force backing them up.
"Don't worry, we are strong too," Anton said as he opened the car door and stepped out.
Crack!
At that moment, a new arrow was shot and hit the car window. With a loud noise accompanied by a crackling sound, the arrow pierced through the car window and headed towards where Anton had originally been. But just like the previous arrow, it stopped midway due to the armor.
"They are getting closer." Jessie could see that the arrows were becoming faster and more powerful, so she looked at Anton and asked, "What do we do?"
Anton, outside the truck, looked at the arrows and furrowed his brows, but still with calm eyes, he said, "Stay calm; as long as you stay here, nothing bad will happen."
Jessie wanted to calm down, but knowing that those people who wanted to kill her were getting closer, she couldn't help but start trembling nervously. Somehow, seeing the renowned Anton and Rafael, who only waited, she felt increasingly calm.
She knew that the chances of these men staying safe were high because they had weapons, so she would make sure to follow both of their instructions at all times.
Crack!
Another arrow hit the car door, this time penetrating even deeper than the previous ones. Right after that arrow, there was another that hit the same car window.
Crack!
Rafael also got out of the car, closed the door, and, holding a shotgun, looked silently at Anton while they took cover from the arrows, trying to locate the source of the shots.
Anton, for a moment, wanted to see beyond what he really could. His desires were so strong that unconsciously, the energy of Faith moved in his body and slowly covered his eyes. At that moment, it was as if light had come out, and his faith power granted him the ability to see in the dark as if he were wearing night vision goggles.
"This is incredible," Anton thought as he looked from where the arrows were coming.
"They are all coming from the left," Anton said, and at that moment, he took action by raising his rifle.
Crack!
At that moment, another arrow sound was heard in the distance, but this time, for some reason, Anton knew they were closer, not only because of the trajectory of the arrows but also because of the direction in which they were being shot.
At this moment, although it was dark, in Anton's field of vision, it was as if it were day, and at that moment, he could see feet approaching from the edge of the road.
However, these pairs of feet were deformed, as if something had mutated them.
"Rafael, stay here to watch my back and remember to protect these two people," Anton said as he moved on his own towards the rear door.
Rafael understood what Anton meant, so he traversed the driver's seat of the truck and sat down while covering Anton's back from a low position.
"Klangor mirvix blentor, zorvadul jinkor flixar."
"Grimbol Jarnix Vorplat, Zentrol Morgix Drunzar." Several harsh sounds resonated very unpleasantly.
Anton furrowed his brows and thought, "Can't these people speak?"
What kind of monsters are these? At that moment, Anton, who knew what he had to do, raised his rifle and aimed.
At this moment, he had the advantage, a very large one, against the enemy, and only when the calves of those deformed people appeared in his field of vision did he shoot.
Bang!
The barrel of his rifle emitted a bright firelight. At that moment, under the illumination of the shot, one of the figure's calves was completely torn apart, and pieces of flesh flew everywhere.
Roarrrrr!!!
At the same time, a roar like that of a beast was heard while it complained of pain, and one of the deformed men fell to the ground.
Click!
Anton reloaded his rifle and, aiming in the same direction, saw how one of the deformed men fell to the ground, exposing his horrible head, so he immediately squeezed the trigger.
Bang!
"I remember seeing these kinds of monsters in my past life," Anton thought as he reloaded his rifle again, and the cartridge fell to the ground with a crisp sound.
He could see how the head of that mutated monster had been shattered by his shot; its entire head was crushed, so he was sure it was dead.
Rrrroooaaarrr!!!!!
The other deformed figure obviously did not expect their prey to suddenly attack. As soon as it wanted to make a move, Anton squeezed the trigger again so fast that it was inhumane.
Bang!
The deformed figure, who had gone mad, was about to run, but there was no living being on earth faster than a bullet, so as soon as it wanted to move, one of its legs had been shattered by a shot.
Accompanied by screams of pain, the last figure of the duo fell to the ground, revealing enough of a complete figure in front of Anton.
Like the previous deformed figure whose head exploded, the appearance of this assassin was not very different; both had very deformed faces and lacked complete human facial features. Just by looking into their eyes, one could understand that these things had abandoned their human characteristics long ago.
Even so, under these expressions, Anton's gaze remained calm because hell was much more terrifying than anything encountered in this life while being alive.
"I've got them," Anton murmured before squeezing the trigger without feeling any hint of remorse.
Bang!
Without his body moving, under the light of the shot from his rifle, the hateful gaze of that deformed figure instantly exploded, similar to the explosion of a watermelon.
After killing these two deranged killers, Anton reloaded his rifle again to prevent any senseless accidents. He looked around, feeling the calm returning, and after making sure there was no danger, he slowly returned and signaled to Rafael, and they both entered the interior of the truck.
Regardless of what happens in the surroundings, the safest place will always be inside the truck, and only after entering did Anton start to refill the bullets he had fired a moment ago.
"Have you eliminated the two?" Rafael asked, looking at the unconscious Chriss, who was slumped in the back seats.
"It's safe," Anton nodded in response.
Jessie, who had heard this, never thought that those things could really die, but they did, so she felt very relieved.
"Thanks, Anton..."
Anton nodded without saying a word. Lately, he had realized that it was increasingly difficult to show his emotions, and he didn't know if it was because his work was slowly consuming him.
And just when Anton thought everything was over, a window suddenly appeared in front of his eyes.
"[Mission in progress...
