Chapter 8 - My Dark Side
"Remember well, son, to defend what you want, you must be so lethal that no one else would dare to touch what is yours! You must defend those you care about, no matter how much blood you shed, don't stop hitting until you're sure your enemy won't get back up. If you know they will never surrender, then you must make sure they never walk again."
"Yes, father, I will do just that," Anton said as he pulled a black knife from his jacket. Did his father ever tell him to have compassion? No, his father always told him to be lethal, someone extremely aggressive against the enemy.
Having said that, Anton walked towards the elevator and saw it slowly rising through the floors. If he was correct, the enemy should be going up at this moment, so he had to stop them at this point. But to be honest, they would take much longer than expected to reach the floor where Emma lived, so he just had to wait patiently.
"They shouldn't be more than three going up the floors looking for me, but that would only be if those gang members left a driver waiting outside. In that case, there would be four, and they all should be armed. If I want to handle this quickly and without complications, I'll have to be the one looking for them."
The only way to resolve this is to find them and end it once and for all. If he doesn't do it this way, those cretins might very well look for Emma or wait for her outside. Anton couldn't let that happen, so he knew he had to first find the person responsible for these problems and prevent them from escaping.
"If they're smart, some should be taking the elevator, and one should be taking the stairs. If they do it this way, there won't be problems when I find them." After that, Anton covered his face with a black mask and took off his jacket. The hidden muscles showed on his arms, and then he wrapped his left hand with the same jacket he had taken off.
In a knife fight, the only thing you can do to win is to wrap some limb with a piece of your clothing. If done well, you can use one hand to stop the knife blade while having a free hand to eliminate the threats.
"I hope there won't be gunshots..." Anton walked and stood in front of the elevator, looking at the numbers indicating its ascent.
"Here they come..."
Anton pretended to be drunk as he leaned against the elevator entrance; the knife in his hand was hidden from the view of anyone coming from the front, and his hand covered with his jacket rose above his chest.
Crack!
The hum of the elevator finally alerted him, and Anton saw the doors open with a mechanical click. The two individuals, robust and tattooed, came out laughing and joking with each other. However, their laughter turned to silence when they realized they weren't alone.
But Anton, who was making strange noises with his mouth and bending his back in a strange way, quickly took away that alert feeling.
"Do you have any dollars?" Anton, with a hoarse voice and a lethargic tone, acted very similarly to any other addict who needed money to continue consuming substances. His performance was convincing, and due to the gang members being drugged, they didn't pay much attention.
"Go to hell, you damn addict!"
"That bitch is so sexy, bro. When I get my hands on her, she'll scream like the slut she is!"
"And how the hell do you plan to find that slut if you don't even know where the hell she lives?" The first gang member was the one not present in the supermarket, but the one behind him was the same one who harassed Emma before Anton arrived.
Anton, with his heart pounding in his chest full of excitement, awaited the exact moment when these two people would give him the best opportunity to kill them. He knew that those two men, the ones who had threatened his girlfriend, would soon show up.
"I clearly told your friend not to come looking for me..." Anton emerged from the ground with unexpected speed; his right hand held a gleaming knife, his jaw tense. His burning gaze met the surprise and fear in the eyes of the first man standing ahead. Without a word, Anton lunged at them.
"It's this son of a bitch!"
Crack! Crack! Crack!
The first gang member, taller and more muscular, tried to react, but Anton was faster. With a precise wrist turn, his knife cut through the air and sank into the man's shoulder with a dull sound and then twice more into his stomach. An agonized scream tore through the silence as the gang member fell to the ground, clutching his bloody wound.
"Son of a bitch..."
Anton didn't even flinch as hot blood spilled from the first gang member's stomach because his brain acted immediately, and his eyes focused on the next target.
The second man, smaller but agile, moved quickly, throwing a wild punch at Anton. He managed to hit him on the cheek, but Anton barely staggered as he looked at the man he had stabbed motionless on the ground.
"Hello again, gangster dog..." Anton was unrecognizable under the fury filling his body; he quickly returned the punch he was receiving, and his left fist hit the gang member's nose, making blood gush out.
The first man who had been lying on the ground struggled to get up, wielding his own knife. Anton, with reflexes at full throttle, ducked just in time to avoid the slash that was aimed at his head and then retaliated with a kick to the stomach of the gang member right where he had the two stab wounds. The man fell to the ground again, gasping and struggling to breathe.
The second gang member, with a broken nose and eyes filled with rage, lunged at Anton with a knife in hand. Anton, with quick and precise movements, parried the attack with his own knife, disarming him just as his hand struck the man's trachea. With astonishing agility, Anton spun and plunged his knife into the chest of the man in front of him, who let out a moan of agony before collapsing on the ground.
Anton, panting heavily, surveyed the wreckage in the elevator and quickly took out his cell phone, calling his uncle: "I've got two dogs in the elevator, where are you, uncle?"
"Head down to the second floor; I'll take care of this..." His uncle Antonio, with a calm voice, quickly went to the security room for the camera footage. With a few hundred dollars, the job should be done. Just as he was about to temporarily turn off the cameras, he spotted a gang member spying on what was happening on the second floor.
"That damn devil gangster..." Antonio quickly ran down the stairs while pulling out his gun and attaching a silencer.
Crack!
When the elevator opened, Anton, who had looted the two dead men, saw out of the corner of his eye a figure dressed similarly and hid in one of the corners pressed against the elevator door.
"Cesar?!" shouted the man from afar, and when he saw all that blood, he immediately pulled out his gun. But at that moment, a silent shot pierced his nape and exited through his right eye, covering the floor with thick blood and brain fragments.
"Never consider something finished when you know perfectly well you have another enemy still in the area, stupid kid," Antonio stepped out from a hallway corner. After surveying the corpses, he shook his head. "This is a damn mess; good thing I came prepared."
"What do we do about the blood?" Anton, still a bit dazed from thinking about the consequences, asked.
"It's just ketchup..." Antonio took out a large bottle of ketchup and began spreading it all over the hallway. After emptying the entire bottle, he tossed it aside and entered the elevator.
"You're always so clever, uncle. I should have attended some of your classes..." Anton smiled sinisterly as he leaned over the other gang member and whispered with a cold voice, "You should never have gone after my girlfriend, you damn dog..."
Antonio, lighting a cigarette, looked at Anton and, after shaking his head, said, "You're quite scary when you behave like that. Do you know I'll call your father about this?"
"He won't answer; I lost contact with him days ago, so he should be on one of his crazy missions again..." Anton, who secretly knew about his father's ongoing work, smiled a little and pointed, "But I'm sure that old man won't die so easily."
Antonio tousled Anton's hair and said, "That's true. Once, I tried to kill him, and he broke my nose with a single punch. I woke up three days later on a farm sleeping with the pigs. I thought I had died, but it turned out my nose had been treated, and I was just so drunk that I even think I ended up seeing a pig orgy..."
"I only now remember that you like to tell those bizarre stories..." Anton chatted a bit more with his uncle, but after the doors opened on the first floor, about six men in cleaning suits looked at the corpses. After seeing Antonio, they began working on cleaning the elevator.
"You better wipe the blood off your face; you look horrible, especially that bruise on your cheek that will surely leave a mark..." Antonio sighed, and after seeing the corpses quickly wrapped in plastic, he turned around.
Anton was surprised at how all the blood was cleaned from the elevator. These people were definitely professionals in how they did all this work, so he left with a calm mind.
"Do you want me to take you home?" Antonio asked as he looked at the gang members' car in the distance.
Anton shook his head and said, "My car is here. We'll see each other later, and I'll thank you properly for this help."
"No need, stop getting into trouble and study hard so you don't end up like me or your father." Antonio waved his hand and turned back to his car.
After the driver saw Anton and noticed his reddened cheek, he shook his head. "Just by the look, I can tell that your girlfriend's father caught you having sex. I don't have anything good to say, but if it's any consolation, something similar happened to me, but instead of being found by my father-in-law, my girlfriend found me with her mother... You know, I found out she was cheating on me with a seventy-year-old, so I did her mother a favor. Haha, it was the best revenge I could imagine."
Anton was a bit speechless at such a story and mumbled, "I guess he lost contact with them after that..."
"Not at all... How do I put it?" The driver asked and then showed a wedding ring, "I became her father, and now her brother is my biological son, hahaha."
"He's quite crafty, haha..."
"No, that was my ex, haha."
