29 - Shadow in the dark
"A presence!"
Luke jumped to the side and his body positioned itself for combat, but after a few seconds nothing happened. However, in the distance he saw a light flashing red, as if it were a laser.
Wolf eyes are very sensitive to light in the dark, especially Luke who had not seen light in a long time.
Even if it is a very dim light it can be noticed hundreds of meters away.
Therefore, feeling curious and at the same time alert, Luke moved carefully.
After going around some bushes, I finally saw clearly what that dim light was all about.
"Infrared camera?"
Luke quickly realized it wasn't some arctic alien or a big foot with glowing eyes in the dark, but an infrared filming bed.
"They're filming in this place and it's not good at all..."
All animals on the Arctic continent would stay away from such an object, but Luke didn't have that luxury just now.
As he got closer, he discovered that the infrared camera was not attached to a tree as he had originally thought, but was floating in the sky.
"Magic!"
Luke jumped twice, but then realized that the camera was attached to a huge Drone.
This Drone to be able to fly in this dark place must be very high tech, Luke thought about that time he spied on his neighbor with a Drone when he was a kid, until the police visited his house and finally his Drone was seized....
"My Drone was named Peter..."
Luke daydreamed as he watched that Drone in the distance fly away, slowly scanning the surroundings.
"Who could tell, I lived deluded all my life thinking that supermen cameras existed, real men swimming in arctic ocean water naked..." Well, that last part Luke made up.
But back to the subject of cameras, do drones really record those epic documentaries that are shown every Sunday on broadcast TV? Well, that too Luke made that up, he only watched documentaries on Sunday mornings and part of the afternoon....
"Beautiful memories, I miss my little bed..."
You can tell at the North Pole that the eye of the Polar night is completely dark. But even so, there are still some people who venture to record the living habits of animals on the Arctic continent.
"They are all real humans, they live their lives to the fullest..."
Maybe for academic purposes, or maybe it's a documentary filming some wild animals. After all, there are still many audiences for wild animal programs and even Luke considered himself one of them.
But Luke, although he likes documentaries and admired the work behind the documentaries, in this life he is not fond of flying cameras.
The female grizzly bear was her prey, and if this camera now scares that bear, she will be that much more alert.
"How much will these cameras cost?" Luke was about twenty yards away from the drone camera. "Wait, why do I care about money if I'm a wolf now?"
With a jump, moving through the snow avoiding leaving any trace of his scent, in no time he arrived in front of that Dron.
"I'm very sorry Mr. Dron, you can't disturb my hunt."
Even if someone behind the scenes manipulated this Dron, there was no time for them to react.
Luke jumped propelled his body at maximum speed with the help of his hind legs and then with his front claws he hit the Dron camera as if he was a cat.
Boom!
The camera released a kind of flash immediately fell to the ground, and the parts attached to this Drone flew everywhere.
But the camera still glowed with a faint red light.
"Will I be able to pick up this camera and take it to my cave?" Luke looked at said camera and hit it two more times before it ended up shutting down.
"Will this thing have any trackers on it?" The internal structure of the chamber shattered, and the dim red light flickered and then went out.
After doing all this, Luke hesitated a few times before he resigned himself to taking the drone with him and turned around, he needed to now go back the way he came.
On the way, there is only the stillness of all things hiding in the shadows of hell and the darkness of night.
"I wanted to take that camera with me..."
...
Just on the way back to the cave.
Two kilometers from where the female grizzly bear cave was, Rue along with his team was in an SUV analyzing data.
Rue had a hat and a big coat on, but even with her big clothes she was looking at the Drone monitoring page, she was nonchalant before she heard Brad's group.
"Damn, what a scare!
"Oh my gosh, what was that white shadow just now?"
"You hit a fucking tree?" Finnick touched his forehead with a massive headache, "Do you know how much that fucking camera costs?"
"Now you're blaming me? Fuck, I didn't crash into anything!" Brad protested in frustration.
"Stressing each other out won't fix this fucking problem!" Coin looked at the two men talking about her innocence and the price of the camera.
Rue was silent, she came here, of course, to film and record along with her crew.
For they needed a lot of important material that this time could offer them.
Naturally, the biological activities under the polar night should also be recorded.
Although during this time no white wolves like the one from long ago have been found, they had managed to record a female brown bear that had just given birth.
It would also be good to document how mother brown bears feed their cubs in the polar night when food is scarce.
Unexpectedly, a sudden white shadow destroyed the camera of the drone, who was rudely asserting Brad.
But the speed of the thing was too fast and there was no way to capture what the white shadow was.
Could it be a wolf?
Rue thought about it.
"What do you think, Rue?"
Caeser, who was in the back making coffee, looked toward Rue in search of some other thought.
It was safe to say that among the group of five people, three men and two women, the relationship between Rue and Caeser was one of the best, of course, that's not to say that Coin was her best friend, but that Caeser was her best friend.
They both also love wolves, and when Brad says something about werewolves they both argue in defense.
But today they all knew that going out would be too dangerous, especially since it's nighttime and even wanting to go off-roading was tricky, driving a Drone was much more so, but they would all understand if there were problems.
"It's a disaster to lose a camera like that..."
The team had witnessed a lot here, so it's no surprise that they were prepared for any kind of thing that happened to them. If they're a team for one thing, it's because at the end of the day they take things as learning and there's no anger.
"When I'm an actor I'll buy you a camera in a helicopter...."
"You'll never be an actor, damn it Brad..."
"I saw it too in the cut images a white shadow destroyed the camera on the Drone..."
"Could it be an owl?"
"Like a letter from Hogw...?"
But before anyone could ask that question, Finnick said, "When the fuck have you ever seen a fucking Owl drop a thirty thousand dollar plus Drone?"
"Well, it might be a magic owl..."
"Not another word or you'll have to get out of the car..." Finnick was red in the face with anger.
"Too bad he didn't have a tracker, that camera and drone were lost..."
...
In the darkness of the night, Luke returned to the cave.
He soon discovered that Anie was the one guarding the cave entrance.
Seeing him return, she howled with joy.
"Ow!"
Luke responded as well.
As for his sister, she was curled up on the fur Luke had laid out to dry.
However, the weather was too cold so Luke also provided warmth to all of them without exemptions.
After looking around in the cave, Luke returned to his spot.
He fell asleep against the rock wall of the cave.
In the last two days, he needs to recharge his energies and adjust his mental state for what Atlanta is about to do.
...
The next day, just as Luke woke up, he saw Baxter in front of him wagging his tail back and forth.
"Whoa! Whoa!"
Seeing his boss wake up, Baxter barked excitedly.
He also stuck out his tongue and licked Luke's hair.
Auge!
But in response to these affectionate actions, Luke kicked Baxter directly.
"Are you a dog crossed with a cat?"
Although his mother licks him, that doesn't mean Luke can accept this kind of affection from other wolves.
"Auuuu!" Being beaten is something that Baxter doesn't mind, but instead returns to Howl with enthusiasm.
After a night of suffering due to not being called out, Baxter told himself that as long as he is smart he can go out and look around with Luke.
And Luke, who knew what was going on, came out of the cave to look around with Baxter. After all, this dumb wolf will be his right hand, paw in this case.
