23 - Cold, fear and unknown
Those wolf eyes reflecting the faint crimson light are much like the one you may get to see before you die in a bloody battle for your survival!
"Rrrr!"
A loud and aggressive roar echoed in the surroundings, there was a will and bloodlust that was rarely seen in places like these.
That roar pierced the air, penetrated the cold and announced in the darkness that no one was to invade this place unless they were prepared to die.
This made the Arctic Reindeer, who did not take that naive wolf named Baxter seriously, instantly alert.
A bit exhausted, the Arctic Reindeer raised his head looking around in panic.
Is it just another wolf or is it a pack?
The Arctic Reindeer's eyes, like those of wolves, can see both in the light and have a visualization of the surrounding terrain in the dark.
It was thanks to this that he realized very quickly where his enemy was, Luke was not very far from him after all.
An adult arctic wolf, a huge white body, was moving at a terrifying speed, but after reaching a stone it stopped and looked at Reno arctic showing its huge crimson eyes.
Today the time had come when Luke did not need to hide his body to hunt.
He was now quite a dangerous predator!
Luke was confident in his stats and that of his enemies, so he simply stopped not far from Arctic Reindeer, looking at his prey and announcing that he was about to hunt it down.
Every living thing that could see those eyes of Luke would feel a shiver, as if a blanket of death enveloped them without letting them breathe.
Luke's white hair that had continually been filled with blood returned to its original color, flawless and very shiny.
Luke's eyes scanned the surrounding grounds and with a single thought, the evolutionary panel appeared with a series of numbers reflecting the attributes of the Arctic Reindeer.
"[... Species: Arctic Reindeer (male)
Level: Level 7
Esper Energy: 1160
Endurance: 76
Strength: 55
Defense: 43.
Speed: 71...]"
These numbers without something Luke should be very careful about, these attribute points are even higher than the corpse he encountered that time when he was just a puppy.
But that strength and speed are still inferior if Luke compares his basic attributes right now.
Although he also has to watch out for the Arctic Reindeer horns as they are very sharp, it wouldn't be a tougher battle if he thinks about the female Musk Ox.
Except for the esper energy that could generate a very strong spirit, everything else is mediocre and does not pose a threat for it to be hunted.
The Arctic Reindeer is also not as brave as a Musk Ox, which dares to fight its predators without any fear.
At the same time, Musk Oxen are much more difficult to hunt than the Arctic Reindeer.
For even herbivores, as long as they dare to fight with everything they have against their predators, even wolf packs desist from the hunt.
At this point, the Arctic Reindeer looked silently at the white Arctic wolf who was glaring at him with obvious arrogance.
No wolf dared to be so careless, no, there was no predator that showed itself so openly to those whom they wanted to make their prey. So the animals' innate sixth sense sent danger signals to the Arctic Reindeer.
When life and death are on the line, those who act quickly survive and those who are paralyzed die.
So at this point the Arctic Reindeer did not hesitate and began to run towards his herd which was not far away.
As long as he ran among the deer, no matter how strong the white wolf was, he would come back with his tail between his legs.
Unless that huge wolf had more strength than his entire pack put together, it would be impossible for this wolf to dare to challenge more than ten adult Arctic Reindeer alone.
With that idea in his head, the Arctic Reindeer relied on his speed and ran towards his pack.
He looked back, as if to visualize the distance between him and the predator that stood until recently motionless.
But as soon as he turned his head, the Arctic Reindeer discovered that the white wolf had started running towards him.
And the white wolf's speed was even faster, so fast that it looked like white lightning through the snow and trees.
The Arctic Reindeer's heart began to beat with despair, as if a powerful and invincible predator was closing in on him.
It is certain that he has never encountered such a fast wolf family at the North Pole during his entire lifetime.
With such speed, does that wolf still belong to a family that has created such an offspring?
That white wolf was the Arctic leopard.
The arctic reindeer ran like mad, but he still heard the sound caused by the air friction right behind him.
"Rrrr!
Close...
He is very close!
The arctic reindeer can even hear the sound of heavy footsteps that were right behind him.
Much closer!
The reindeer sped up again, his footsteps in the snow even ceased to be seen.
But within a few seconds, he still felt a white shadow approaching his side, and then as if all this were unreal, sharp claws struck his neck fiercely.
The arctic reindeer desperately tried to dodge, but that shadow that was at first one claw soon became two.
Luke relied on his extremely fast speed and greater strength, this attack strength added to his speed was something no animal at this speed could resist.
When the Arctic Reindeer was hit by both claws in the neck with great force, but balance due to his fast running.
Boom!
After rolling for more than ten meters, the Arctic Reindeer finally stopped.
The Arctic Reindeer's body, its bones in particular, are not strong.
After rolling several times in a row, he has suffered multiple injuries to his internal organs and bones that practically cost him his life.
But even though he knew he couldn't possibly get out of this situation, he still crawled and struggled on the ground, but no matter how hard he tried he couldn't get off the ground.
But his group of Arctic Reindeer was not far from where he is now.
But he knows he can never get back to them.
"Aooouuuu!"
A sad, heartbreaking cry from an Arctic Reindeer rang out into the night.
And Luke, who had walked towards the Arctic Reindeer after getting up from the ground after falling next to his prey, without wasting any time, did not play with his prey and gave it a quick kill.
His sharp fangs pierced the throat of the Arctic Reindeer, sucking the precious blood that kept it still alive.
As the Arctic Reindeer was about to fight back, its throat was pierced by the strong, sharp teeth of its predator.
Faced with such a wound, the Arctic Reindeer soon died.
Baxter then emerged from a bush.
For a long time, since he was a cub, he had been familiar with how strong and unreachable Luke was.
The prey he could not deal with even with all his efforts was a helpless living thing awaiting death at the hands of its leader.
"Ow!"
Baxter let out an excited howl.
"Rrrr!"
Upon seeing him arrive, Luke directed him to find some bushes to drag this Arctic Reindeer to a new location.
Baxter dutifully searched for bushes.
The weight of the Arctic Reindeer is very different from that of the musk ox, and this one only weighs about 200 Kilograms.
So after finding the bush, Luke dragged the Arctic Reindeer carcass up into the bushes.
This time, however, Luke did not intend to have his prey dragged back to the cave where his parents lived, but was going to take it back to the cave he had recently found.
At first he wanted to look for a better cave, but there was no chance.
This is also to prevent the value of his father's leadership from being affected again.
Now his father as a leader had been changing in the eyes of others, so Luke no longer intended to be a nuisance.
Now he would have his own house!
...
"So, Mr. Mikael, everyone in the program understands perfectly what you and your co-workers do for humanity."
"You just take care of the animals so that humans don't eat them, am I wrong? Hahaha!"
On a live show, the program personality was interviewing a scientist who was an expert in animal science as an Arctic wolf had recently gone viral.
The purpose of this program is to entertain, and they weren't really looking for something serious. But the scientist named Mikael Nykvist had no such intention coming on this show, in fact, he was using this entertainment antics to share a special message.
"Not only do we care for the 'animals' of humans, we also care for human animals not to commit infamy against life on this planet." Mikael was prepared for him to be humiliated in this type of program, so he was composed throughout.
"Well Mikael, it is known that the development of animal science research is intended to generate and disseminate knowledge to improve animal production, preserve and restore animal health, prevent the transmission of diseases to the human population and care for the species."
The presenter smiled and said, "Wow, pretty amazing stuff for us dropouts after failing a language exam..."
"Hahaha."
Mikael smiled and said, "I'm just here to warn you, we have recently found changes in animals. Those of you who have pets and notice your animals acting like humans, using more humanized behavior should be very careful..."
"Wait, wait, wait, wait, what kind of horror movie is that? I, like many in your homes, wish your pets would relieve themselves in the toilet, worse unfortunately things are not like that."
"Hahaha!"
Mikael took off his glasses and warned, "The world is changing, I don't know how or in what way, but we are about to face a change so great that our lives will be affected in ways we don't know."
"You must prepare yourselves, stay away from every possible animal, eradicate any pests and under no circumstances stay with strange animals! They are all somehow getting smarter, stronger and more aggressive!"
"I am investigating, but in the meantime you must be prepared!"
Those strange and alarming words left the world even up to the presenter, and everyone in the program fell silent with a strange feeling running through their body.
What in the world is going on?
