51 - A mother's happiness
In the den of Luke's parents' wolf pack, he saw that the rest of the wolves were now sleeping. One could say that their mood was low since they preferred sleeping to being awake and feeling hungry. Some of the wolves even had bloody wounds on their skin. This made Luke, who was originally excited, feel a bit confused since this scene was strange for as long as he could remember.
Could there be predators that came to this cave to cause trouble? After wandering his gaze among the wolves, he saw his mother who hadn't changed much. But like the other wolves, she had also lost weight. Her hair had lost its beautiful shine, and seeing his mother in this state made Luke distressed.
This was his mother in this life, and as if she felt something watching her, she opened her eyes and saw her old cub returning.
"Auuu!" She happily howled upon seeing her son enter the den. As if the sparkle in her eyes ignited, Luke's mother, who was lying down to conserve energy, stood up and ran towards that huge wolf. There was no doubt that it was her little wolf. After approaching, she smelled Luke a little more and affectionately licked her son's hair.
Luke and Ondina are his mother's first cubs. Therefore, she has a deep affection for her two children. But especially for Luke, who had grown much faster than his father in a short time, which made her a very happy mother.
Perhaps it was the very moving reunion of a son with his mother, but Luke's mother thought that her son shouldn't have eaten much during this Polar night.
As a mother, she must ensure that her cub is well, so she now wants to offer him food if he needs it. Luke, who knew nothing of this, looked at his mother for any kind of injury but fortunately she was fine.
But then he heard his mother howl softly, indicating to Luke to follow her to where she was sleeping.
Luke, who was really happy to meet his mother, followed her and then saw a strange scene.
Luke's mother began to move pieces of ice with her claws and then threw him some small Lemmings and some dark-looking fruits.
Then, with her nose, Luke's mother pushed the food in front of him, growling at him to eat.
But Luke knew that this could be the only food left in his mother's personal reserves. For any wolf, these fruits and Lemmings might be insignificant, but for Luke, this small meal was a sign of the love his mother has for him.
This implied something, the reunion between a wolf mother and her cub is a very tender and emotional scene, which demonstrates the importance of family ties in the lives of animals, something that Luke was very aware of.
This had moved Luke and even if it were a more private scene, he would cry from such emotional emotions he was feeling.
"Auuuu!"
If he's honest, Luke didn't want to eat his mother's personal reserve, but seeing the expectations and happiness in his mother's eyes that were looking directly at him, he didn't want to deny this show of affection. So he simply bowed his head and ate this black-colored fruit.
Wolves are very similar to dogs, as they can eat fruits, insects, and similar things to satisfy their hunger. So, when it comes to wolves, they are not very different in that type of behavior.
Although Luke can also eat some wild fruits, insects, and similar things to satisfy his hunger, this will make him even hungrier in the future.
This is because the taste buds and stomachs of wolves do not really tolerate fruits, as they are not delicious to them.
Therefore, not wanting to eat too much but also not wanting to disregard the loving actions and sacrifices of his mother, Luke approached the fruit and then put it in his mouth.
To be honest, Luke did not know what kind of fruit was going into his mouth, but he knew that it had a very bitter taste.
There is very little juice and not much nutrition at all that this fruit can provide to his body.
Eating or not eating these fruits can be said to be the same.
And with this, Luke realizes how difficult it has been for his parents to survive all this time. From now on, he would make sure that his parents have enough food so as not to resort to these methods.
Right now, he blamed himself for being so careless. Originally, he thought that taking most of the puppies with him would help the pack survive better without sacrificing their own food.
This is why Luke also agreed to take his sister with him, as this would ensure that his parents would not share their little food with them.
But everything seems to indicate that he was wrong, and in turn, he understood that not everyone is as lucky as him to hunt for food.
It is really difficult to survive the Polar night.
But at this moment, a warning message appeared in front of his basic attribute panel.
"[9 evolution points gained for eating cold tree fruit!]"
Luke, who was eating this bitter fruit that seemed to have a large seed in the center, was surprised to receive this news.
"Eh? Is that also possible?"
It seems that not only can I eat meat to gain evolutionary value, but also plant fruits.
Cold tree fruit, Luke had never heard of such a strange name for a fruit.
And when he thought he would be unable to recognize it, he spit out the seed and saw the information that the basic attribute panel was showing him.
[This is a magical ice fruit seed that grows in snowy and icy landscapes of the Arctic. This magical fruit has an oval shape and is covered in shimmering ice crystals that would shine like small blue suns!]
Can I use this seed to plant a tree?
It's easier said than done, but he can try, and possibly come up with many things later.
So, at this moment, under the obtainment of evolutionary points, Luke ate the rest of the fruits and kept the seeds aside to try and plant them in his cave.

As for Luke's mother, she was happy to see her son eat the food she had acquired with excitement.
