4 - Hunt
Hunting in the cold Arctic often requires not only strength, but more often observation and intelligence, which Luke at least does not require.
What Luke is looking for is experience, and maybe being someone observant would help him a lot to gain experience. He felt safe, at least today he dares to go out because his speed attribute is good to be able to escape from predators stronger than him.
Besides some large animals that are active in this kind of place, groups of herbivores are targets of his outing this time.
Hares, of course, are targets of most arctic wolves. Normally wolves in general prefer easy targets to hunt, and harmless animals are best.
Luke had originally planned to follow the pace his wolf father took to go hunting, but soon gave up along the way. The pack would most likely travel miles to increase foraging range, this was the method the packs used when food started to become scarce.
Therefore, Luke decided to look in a nearby place so as not to get lost. And along the way he came across some arctic rabbits.
Arctic rabbits are intelligent and hard to find as they live in burrows under the snow, and if they become immobile even above ground they cannot be detected by even the most desperate wolves looking for food.
They do not usually hang around flat places just where Luke is found, apart from some trees and large rocks, the terrain is not suitable for finding many hares like rabbits.
But although these usually inhabit mountains or plains, they usually dig burrows to rest. In this regard, if the rabbits are tired, Luke should take advantage of this moment.
As Luke slowed down, he could see seven to eight arctic rabbits in front of him, chewing on the snow moss.
"I'm not going to waste any of their body parts, today I must satiate my hunger and hopefully bring something back for the others."
Luke looked at this litter of rabbits in front of him, his eyes reflected the desire to murder.
Luke could imagine that this litter of rabbits were out in search of food for their young, such a large group doesn't usually stay for long in places like this.
A combination like this with cubs is usually the first to be hunted in the wild.
But even if the previous Luke had felt sympathy, something like that is something to be least concerned about. A sense of guilt doesn't exist in places like these, these actions are of nature.
After all, Luke must hunt or die at the hands of starvation.....
"I will first try to see its basic attributes..."
As Luke thought about this, the attributes of several rabbits appeared in front of his eyes not far away, giving him the information he required right now.
[... Species: Arctic rabbit (male).

...
[... Species: Arctic rabbit (female).
Level: Level 2.
Esper Energy: 282.
Resistance: 16.
Strength: 5.
Defense: 9.

...
Luke looked at all the rabbits and found that among several rabbits, the largest arctic rabbit had the highest attributes, incredibly reaching level 3.
The speed had reached a terrifying score, and the speed of the other arctic rabbits was also not small at all. I already knew that rabbits were fast, but seeing it at scoring levels leaves you a little unsure.
You can tell that because of this speed the lone wolves don't attack, but maybe it's also because these little guys hide so well.
Catching rabbits must be tiring, let alone in this terrible cold while considering feeding a whole pack. Luke estimates that the pack this time is going to try to hunt something a little bigger.
Luke came to this conclusion because considering the numbers of the pack and the amount of food that all these rabbits mean, in the end the result will be the same and they won't be able to fill their stomachs, and it's not safe to catch them all.
But this is not a problem for Luke.
Luke took it upon himself to up his speed and he is also very fast, so fast that the fastest of this rabbit is inferior to him.
Wolves have a lot of stamina, which gives them the ability to chase their prey for miles. And if Luke has speed plus stamina, catching all this prey is not a problem.
To restore stamina, you only need an adequate amount of rest and a little food to fully recover, and getting hurt is out of the question.
Therefore, even if physical strength is depleted, as long as one arctic rabbit is caught, it is enough and more than two would be a victory.
As soon as he saw the statistics of those rabbits, Luke lay down on the ground, silently watching those rabbits not far from his position.
To capture these runners, he must first eliminate the strongest one. He then decided to fixate on the strongest and fastest rabbit.
Luke moved forward slowly, his white fur blending in with the snow on the ground.
The litter of rabbits is getting closer and closer to his position.
As if they heard a noise, the rabbits pricked up their ears and looked around. The male rabbit hopped up and took a few steps forward, staring in the direction Luke was facing.
It seems that this should be the animals' most innate instinct for danger.
But, fortunately, Luke managed to hide in the snow just fine. With his clean fur, there is no difference between the snow.
Luke kept waiting patiently.
The arctic rabbits after a while found nothing unusual and continued to eat moss with their heads down.
At that point slowly moved again.
Defending himself, making sure to move forward unseen and then stopping again.
After a long time, he finally reached a spot less than 30 meters from the group of rabbits.
Fortunately, there is a bush blocking this spot, otherwise, with the vigilance of the male arctic rabbit, would have been spotted long ago.
At this point, Luke pulled out all the facts he knew about predators and began to hold his breath.
A distance of thirty meters should be enough to catch his prey given his speed and the reaction time of the male arctic rabbit.
Luke would make sure to kill that rabbit in one attack, and when the rabbits were slow to react, he would try to hunt the slower ones if he got the chance.
Speed is everything!
Luke positioned his body and took one more step forward as he waited for the moment to strike.
Still as snow, move like air.
"Now!"
Luke's speed was much faster than the rabbit's reaction speed.
As if part of the cold wind, Luke rushed towards the male arctic rabbit who was unaware of the danger and was still crouching down eating grass.
Arhg!
At a distance of ten meters, the arctic rabbit spotted him.
Luke let out a long roar and accelerated again.
The male arctic rabbit began to flee in panic.
But the path he chose made it difficult for him to escape, plus Luke's speed is already faster than that of the Arctic Rabbit.
With a short distance of ten meters, the Arctic Rabbit could not escape from his hunting ground at all.
Just as he was about to catch up, Luke suddenly jumped up, revealing his sharp wolf claws in the air.
With a leap propelled forward, the wolf's paws hit the male arctic rabbit's neck hard.
Luke has 30 points of strength, plus a jump with a speed of over 60.
Not to mention a single arctic rabbit, even an adult arctic wolf would be injured by Luke's attack at this time.
Therefore, as soon as he reached his prey, there was a sound of bone breaking in the neck of the male arctic rabbit, and after knowing that it could not pose any kind of problem, Luke did not let it fall to the ground.
Luke, who had no time to appreciate his victory, with blood in his mouth and nose, turned around and chased after other rabbits.
The rest of the arctic rabbits had already reacted and began to flee in all directions.
However, there are still some smaller rabbits that escape very slowly.
Natural selection, survival of the fittest.
Luke was not guided by his weak feelings, even if they are just pups, jumped on him and broke his bones before continuing to chase his prey.
...
Half an hour later.
Roar!
The long roar of a powerful beast, combined with the blood scattered on the snow and the corpses of arctic rabbits, shows that in this place he had a big hunt.
Today he had a windfall.
Six prey that were hunted.
One male and one female, plus four cubs.
After tallying the results, Luke, who was out of breath and half exhausted, approached the carcass of the male arctic rabbit and bit it with his sharp fangs.
"[1 point of evolution by eating an arctic rabbit!"]"
Seeing the alerts on the panel, Luke started eating faster.
"[0.80 point of evolution by eating an arctic rabbit!"]
"[0.60 point of evolution by eating an arctic rabbit!"]"
...
In all this time Luke knew that he could gain evolutionary points by devouring all kinds of food, but once he starts eating the same kind of food, he will get less evolutionary points.
The more constant the food, the less benefits he will get.
Soon, after eating the male arctic rabbit and a puppy, the panel's message noted only 0.10 evolutionary points.
"I never imagined I would one day experience something like this..."
Luke looked at the rabbits in the cold snow that were about to be devoured.
He didn't continue eating, after looking around, he put his head down and bit into the dead arctic rabbit on the ground, and started walking towards the cave.
But what Luke didn't know was that everything that happened at this moment was seen by a scout in a distant off-road vehicle.
Just now, there was a scout in the distance, holding a pair of binoculars and muttering, "What an amazing Arctic wolf, smarter than the rest and perfect at hunting, maybe in the future he will be a great pack leader."
"Could this be the new King of this place?"
Of course, the man only joked about it. But what he didn't know was that the Arctic wolf he was looking at just now was only a month-old pup.
What would happen in the future?
