18 - Something curious
The night on the Arctic continent is extremely cold.
They don't need to know that because those who live here know it. What's more, that knowledge is something like wisdom that is adapted to their body.
Ruum! Ruum!
The sound of an off-road vehicle driving over the ice and snow not far away caused Luke to look in that direction with his pair of crimson eyes.
This off-road vehicle was about a hundred yards away from him.
And the most disturbing thing was that he hadn't noticed it!
But even now he didn't move and his eyes kept scanning the surroundings, he was aware that those humans right now should be back as the cold started to increase and for a human it's a bit complicated to be exposed for a long time in this kind of weather.
But then he could clearly see how that all-terrain vehicle was driving away.
Although the Arctic continent is covered with ice and snow, there are also some explorers or researchers who work in these kinds of places.
Today, humans and animals mostly live in harmony.
Many nature reserves have even been planned to protect the living environment of animals.
Therefore, as long as it is not some vicious hunters, it is okay for humans to take photos or record videos. In his previous life as a human he loved watching documentaries and had a lot of respect for people who lived in that kind of environment just to shoot footage.
Besides, that kindness for humans still remained. Of course, that is as long as they were not malicious people who only wanted to seek evil for their new life. Today he is and will remain an arctic wolf, if there is a hunter who wants him dead, he will definitely not rest until he sees that hunter die under his claws.
"Rrrr!"
After seeing that off-road vehicle leave this place, Luke growled under his breath and saw Baxter who was still nonchalantly eating.
It was a good thing that Baxter did not interfere in his battle with the Ox, what surprised him greatly was his inactivity and he was thankful as he was able to hunt this large prey.
After Luke had directed him to come over to eat, Baxter did nothing more than that, filling his stomach with delicious food.
Baxter kept wagging his tail as he ate, howling every now and then towards Luke expressing his great admiration for the excellent hunt he made.
Then, as Baxter continued to eat, Luke found two large bushes that were uprooted by his large wolf mouth preparing to return to the cave with this Musk Ox.
Relying on the method he did the other time, this task seemed to be much easier than one might come to think.
One musk ox is enough to feed the entire wolf pack for several days.
A wolf usually eats one and a half kilograms of meat per day, but in order to breed successfully this amount must rise to three kilograms.
At a meal, a hungry wolf can eat up to 10 kilos of meat. However, it is an animal that is prepared, if the situation requires it, can go several days without eating.
But in large packs as Luke had witnessed, every time the pack got prey they would usually eat them whole, leaving only the skull and long bones.
But Luke believes it is better to eat if there is enough food, making the most of his advantage of having enough energy to go out hunting again and gather breath to keep living in this difficult life.
Especially wolf cubs, who are still in a rapid period of growth and need to eat enough to keep moving forward.
Daily food is very important for the pups, who are still in their infancy.
Luke is currently a level 5 wolf. His strength, speed and basic attributes for the most part are much better than before.
His speed was incredibly high, his strength was incredibly high, so to speak that his bite strength can easily ascend hundreds of kilograms and his fighting skills are very strong.
The experience of fighting and hunting was getting stronger and stronger. His basic attributes gave a new jump of 10 points automatically plus 5 extra to his speed and strength.
His wolf body also reached 1.65 meters in length, all this while including his wolf tail, and his length exceeded two meters compared with the bodies of lions.
Now with such a body shape, even if compared to his wolf father, there was no difference.
Even Luke could tell that he was much bigger.
After inspecting the surroundings once more and seeing that there was no danger, he planned to leave with the musk ox he had hunted.
Meanwhile Baxter who was still eating voraciously, his stomach visibly grew from eating too much.
In cold and snowy places, it is enough for him to eat three to six kilos in extreme hunger, if there is not so much with only two kilos to one is enough, eating more than that will slow down his progress towards the cave.
Then, seeing that Baxter was overdoing it, Luke patted Baxter's head with his paw.
But Luke controlled his strength and plunged Baxter's head into the flesh. When Baxter raised his head, he looked up at Luke and howled in pain.
Luke saw Baxter's bloody face, if he could laugh he would have done so, but seeing that the time was getting longer and longer, he didn't explain much since Baxter couldn't understand him anyway.
Only through bloody reality and force could he remember some things.
Roar!
With a stiffening of impatience, Luke signaled to Baxter that it was time for him to help drag the prey into the cave as well.
Although Baxter was a bit confused by Luke's jab, he eagerly helped.
After all, in his way of thinking, whatever Luke does is right and has unquestioned authority.
Baxter was about to reach level three, and as an awakened beast, he has a lot of strength that should not be underestimated at any time.
With his help in dragging the prey, Luke felt the help that made them move forward much faster.
On the way back, Luke also encountered other predators that smelled blood.
When Luke fixed his gaze on these beasts, he discovered that they were a pack, his expression cooled and he stopped dragging the Ox from his muzzle.
This pack was very small, two male and two female wolves.
On the Arctic Continent, the wolf pack led by the father wolf has eight adult Arctic wolves, which is considered a very strong pack.
But seeing that other wolves had violated their border, this was not a normal occurrence. It should be known that the borders between packs were highly respected, so if some wolves hunted in another territory that belonged to them that meant war.
Therefore, Luke advanced at a slow pace and looked coldly at those wolves passing right in front of him. With their bloody mouths, equally bloodstained fur and crimson eyes they gave him a very fierce appearance.
Most wolves are scattered in threes or fours.
The strongest male arctic wolf in the wolf pack currently blocking the road is only a level 5 attribute.
The other two females are level 4 and one is level 3.
A very weak pack, that lead wolf did not seem to be strong enough to lead that pack. Also, those level 3 and 4 wolves were too weak to move in the dark. Therefore, Luke deduced that something had happened to keep these wolves moving forward.
But he doesn't care, as long as they dare to attack, Luke doesn't mind teaching this wolf pack a painful lesson by killing some members of their pack.
But obviously, the leading male Arctic wolf also felt that it was not easy to mess with Luke and everything seemed to indicate that he had no intention of causing trouble.
Howl!
Luke howled fiercely demonstrating his strength and authority, when these wolves heard Luke's howl, they backed off and some even lowered their heads.
Ow!
The one that appeared to be the male understood what was happening and dropped the arctic rabbit to the ground, then howled twice and after lowering his head he retreated with the pack.
When Luke saw the rabbits on the ground, he walked over to them and picked them up with his mouth. These were the rules, if those crazy people broke the rules and their borders, it was possible that their father's manda would end up killing them.
But what made Luke nervous was that they seemed to be going in a different direction than what was supposed to be their territory.
Did a much stronger predator show up and make it difficult for those wolves to live in that place?
Without giving this much thought, Luke and Baxter resumed their trek to the cave and dragged the carcass of the female Musk Ox.
When they both arrived in the vicinity of the cave, Luke could see his father patrolling.
As the strongest wolf in the pack, his father was very responsible and often patrolled the territory.
But now he seemed to have cost the scent of other wolves, so the males were very alert.
At that moment, Luke released his prey and howled, signaling to his father wolf that he had returned.
The patrolling father wolf heard the howl and instantly looked up with a pair of fierce eyes.
The naughty boy is back?
He had been too angry and worried that Luke had not arrived, and he could finally solar that anger.
After waking up, he found out that Luke and Baxter had left the cave, so he felt very worried especially this day when the weather was not good.
After all, in today's Arctic continent, food is scarce and many predators eat almost everything.
Nowadays, anyone can become food.
Of course, plus Luke's dad is the undisputed male leader among the wolves in the pack.
He was also very upset that Luke and Baxter went AWOL.
The two pups simply started not listening to him, ignoring his growls, but Baxter was wagging his tail getting ready to show Luke's dad an Arctic rabbit. But Luke heard that his father was not happy, after all, how could he control the entire wolf pack in the future if they didn't listen to him?
Luke's father felt very depressed, now that his son had returned to the cave, he had originally planned to teach him a harsh lesson so that he would not leave the cave without permission.
But as he approached he saw the prey these two had brought.
In the middle of the night, his father wolf's eyes reflected a faint dim light.
But after he looked at his son's body, he could see the large blood stains on his son's white fur.
This made the father wolf show his fangs!
His puppy?
"Rrrrrrr!!!"
He roared furiously and ran to his son's side.
Meanwhile, Luke, of course, also saw his father Wolf running towards him.
"Auuuu!"
Luke immediately thought, "He's come to congratulate me on my great hunt?"
After approaching, Luke's father saw his son's body, stuck out his tongue and licked his hair.
Although he doesn't look as loving as his mother wolf, in the end Luke knows that his father cares about his safety deep down in his heart.
Seeing that Luke was covered in blood, her wolf eyes were filled with evil and murderous aura.
Wait! Soon, Luke's father discovered that this smell of blood did not belong to his son.
Luke's father's sense of smell is very sensitive and can quickly distinguish the smell of blood.
Luke also howled low at this time, indicating to him that it was blood from the prey he had hunted.
When he withdrew his gaze from Luel, he saw how Baxter was sitting on top of Ox's carcass while holding an Arctic rabbit in his mouth.
An image of Baxter looking funny appeared in front of Luke and his father's eyes.
After considering what had happened, Luke's father thought: strength, size, hunting, food.
The scene in front of him seemed to be silently telling him that this little puppy seemed to have outgrown it.
Well, now Luke wasn't exactly a puppy as his size didn't match that description.
Luke, now he had grown up even though he was no more than two months old.
