17 - Red eyes in the dark
Flashing back to the moment Luke subdued his enemy, his eyes immediately scanned his surroundings to see if their fight had drawn the attention of any nearby enemies.
"Auuuu!"
At this moment, with a loud wolf howl, Luke proved that he was a strong hunter and his dominance pierced through the trees and mountains with a loud howl.
The hunt to level up had finally come to an end.
The dying female Musk Ox gradually lost the gleam in her eyes, leaving this cruel world.
The female musk ox, not yet fully grown, finally fell after experiencing a full confrontation with the lone predator.
Weighing about four hundred kilograms, she fell to the ground with a crash, splashing a lot of ice and snow.
Its blood, scattered on the white snow and ice, looked very dazzling.
"Whoa Whoa!"
At this moment, Luke, who was staring at the Ox who finally stopped moving, loosened his grip on his bite, panting heavily due to the great effort he made not to lose his grip.
As soon as Luke dropped his prey to the ground, several messages appeared on the panel right in front of his eyes.
"[Fight evenly matched!
Excellent demonstration!
Cold wind!
Enemy dies miserably!
Combat Rating: S...]"
"[Congratulations on getting ten potions of booster and three potions of evolution!"]
"Is that possible, this attribute panel decided to rate this battle as an S class again?"
Luke felt that this outcome was somewhat unexpected. He honestly didn't think that this battle would grant him that combat rating, so he never thought about receiving a reward.
But even though it was unexpected he felt this reward was somewhat surprising.
At first, Luke had thought that he would have to fight a beast where they would both end up in a very sorry state like last time, and only when the battle was on equal terms could he get an S-class battle rating.
But now he no longer thought that way, now he believed that as long as his enemies had many more points in a certain way he could get this kind of rating from the panel.
This was all very confusing to Luke, even those options that he had some idea what they were for. But right now, he didn't want to think about it too much.
He had to consider that this battle was less bloody at least on Luke's part, but that was also because he took care to correctly dodge many of the enemy attacks.
At the same time, the S-point rating also yielded many rewards. What were those potions? Right now his basic tribute panel gave him very much the impression that this place was about a video game, of course if it wasn't for the traces of the hunters from long ago.
But after that simple emotion, he just shook his body and snow along with a few drops of blood flew down the sides.
To settle this battle once and for all, Luke attacked the most vulnerable and delicate place of any living being regardless of race, the throat.
As the female Musk Ox fought for her life, a lot of blood splattered on her body and that fur that was normally white was dyed red.
As soon as the fight was over and he checked that the place was safe, Luke howled for Baxter to come over and eat some of this fresh food. Baxter, full of excitement, trotted in little hops on the path to the carcass.
After Baxter approached, Luke no longer cared about anything else and excitedly bit into a piece of meat from the female Musk Ox.

The meat of this prey I enjoy very much, in fact this moment right after the animals died was the moment when the food is best enjoyed since the meat was not frozen.
Nobody, even animals, enjoy frozen food. But if there is one good thing about all this, it is that the food is more preserved, which was not the case in warmer places.
This food was easily chewed and converted into energy in his body.
Luke had gained a lot more than he bargained for on this hunt.
After being promoted to level 5, his strength had again improved by leaps and bounds.
In addition, his hunting ability was never used, proving to him that he is stronger than originally expected.
Relying only on his own strength, he killed the female Musk Ox.
Now Luke feels that if the hunting talent is activated, even a strong adult Ox can be killed with his strength.
Of course, it's just a thought that crossed his mind, and it's not like he was sure about killing it either.
And by now, Luke and Baxter were very comfortable eating while thinking about completely different things.
The musk ox meat is very fresh, tender and tastes delicious.
Even after biting into the meat of the female musk ox, you can still see that the meat was still quivering.
This means that the meat and bone nerve endings are not dead and will respond after being stimulated by the bites exerted on the nerves.
Luke although he considered this a bit uncomfortable, his hunger was greater so he ignored this.
Fresh!
Absolutely fresh!
Even if he was human in his previous life, he had never eaten such fresh wild meat!
Of course, at that moment, ideas arise about how this fried food would taste.

...
During the process of eating, the evolution value increased rapidly.
After eating what he thought was necessary, he was already at a point where he should stop eating.
At this meal, Luke gained a little over forty evolutionary points, a truly frightening amount considering he had just leveled up.
However, going from level 5 to level 6 requires 320 evolution points, which is still a bit far considering thinking about leveling up.
But honestly Luke had nothing else to do, and in a world like this it won't be hard to level up.
The road to hunting and evolving is getting longer and harder.
And now the arctic is still in its cold season, and the area where the Polar night will take effect is getting bigger and bigger.
Although around the area where Luke was, such an anomaly had not happened, it was obvious that night had become much longer.
Luke remembers that it was late when he and Baxter had left the cave.
After he finished eating, the sky was completely dark.
And those crimson eyes also became a pair of eyes that glowed red in the night.
Wolf eyes were not at all common.
Although a wolf's pair of eyes are duplex, it is true that at night it loses some of the sharp vision. However, it is much better than other animals in this dark environment.
Therefore, even though the sky was completely dark, Luke could still see clearly in the dark.
It's just that pair of eyes glowing with a red light gave him a terrifying feeling, something that would scare most living things.
Not far from where there were humans, the team packed up all their things and headed back as the temperature was getting lower and lower.
But even so, Luke didn't want to leave this great meal behind. Hundreds of pounds of meat are something he can't give up, let alone in this cruel and cold world.
...
Several kilometers away from where Luke was, a fox was moving at high speed in the opposite direction. If Luke were here he would know that this speed was by far superior to his own, right now that female fox was being chased by two predators that could not be seen well in the dark.
Roar!
The footsteps on the ground were loud and the snow was expanding from the sides, but neither figure stopped. The intelligence overflowing from the female fox's eyes showed her coolness, which was an incredible thing to see in such an animal.
The light on her forehead continued to shine, giving her a nobility that was impossible to see in any other type of creature anyone could ever encounter.
As the path grew darker and darker, the predators behind the female fox followed her without hesitation and after a furious battle, roars of pain and fear were heard before the two predators were completely eliminated.
Blood stained the white snow on the ground, and the animals in the vicinity did not dare to come close for fear of being killed in such a cruel way by a female fox.
