Hey Mike, I hope that while you're in the US, you visit New Mexico, where I am from! There are lots of dark legends as well as a lot of actual crime. You should go there for Day of the Dead! Some people believe that the dead come back to life on this day, and you must put out offerings for them. My family never believed in this, but I knew people who genuinely did. There are also Native American mass graves of people who were slaughtered, some even in populated areas in Albuquerque. You won't find it in the tourist guides, but most people whose families have been there for several generations know.

Boston/New England are some the oldest areas in the country, so that is very good for haunted stories. Are you considering going to other states as well?
