Redrawn Standard Vintage Faces (PDF Download)
🕑 Added 2023-04-16 15:53:55 +0000 UTCA few days ago I bought an old "well used" Great Mogul Playing Cards deck on ebay for under 3β¬. As you can see in the image, the court cards already have the standard design that USPCC uses today. I couldn't find out the exact production year of the deck. Either 1938 or 1958 - vintage in any case and you can see the vintage touch in every detail. I've wanted to redesign vintage style faces for a long time and thanks to this deck I finally put the idea into action.
You can download the faces now on my website. The page is still empty, I will work on the description after I share it with you.

I'll also use these faces in an upcoming Orbit deck.
The main differences are quickly summarized: chunkier pips, smaller indices and a fifth color (green) on the courts.
I have a great fascination for vintage decks, because they were all made before digitalization, so not all the details are repeated over and over again in every new deck.
I'm aware that people who do not deal with playing cards hardly see a difference. Therefore what I say now will sound even more stupid - but I know you understand me :D
Just one example - on the left you see the standard Jack of Diamonds that USPCC has been using in all of their decks for 2-3 decades. One little detail on the left shoulder is white but from the Great Mogul deck I know now that this part was originally red. It's just a ridiculously small detail, but as a designer, I get hugely excited when I discover things like this. With digitization, many such details are lost and no one cares anymore. I think it's an interesting thought that millions of decks with standard courts were basically printed "wrong" because the one person who digitized the face cards for USPCC forgot certain details.
With this vintage variant as a PDF download, I simply want to make it easier for other creators while also giving them more choices.
Thanks for reading and thank you so much for your support!
Much love
Daniel

Sorry should have clarified :/ with this pdf there is clear paths for where the faces sit within the bounds of a playing card. The other faces (regular redrawn and arcco) don't have the bounds of a card, rather just grid lines separating each face (significantly larger white space. If you look at the other face pdfs and flip between you'll see what I mean about the card border path only exisiting with his new pdf

Hey, Iβm not quite sure if I understand what you mean, let me know π But yes, some pips go slightly beyond USPCC's specified safety line but that also happens with the original USPCC faces. So you shouldn't get in trouble if you are referring to this.

These are great, thanks Daniel! Any chance you could update the older redraws with the same card borders? They are currently square and much larger than the actual card bounds
