🕑 Added 2024-01-13 23:57:20 +0000 UTCJust what the title says, I'm not quite ready to make this canon to the story, but I was tinkering with ChatGPT to see if it could produce some of the more random commenters, along with some key characters, and after some tweaking this is the result. It's not bad, but it's not quite right either. So if any of it winds up in the story, it'll be rewritten quite a bit.

I‘d call it a successfully failed experiment. It produced a repetitive succession of soundbites that even a rookie writer could bang out better in say half an hour. And from my experiences with generative models, I‘d say you spent a lot more time on it than that. (I would expect it was fun playing with the toy, but not something you’d actually want to use.

Mmm. I have to agree this is interesting, but doesn’t feel quite right. SpaceCowboy isn’t that inflammatory or even off topic, and the moderator warning each time he posts feels overdone, especially since he doesn’t actually derail the thread. It also feels like there is a bit too much information known about Magus - he is only just revealed his origins to the top brass, how does random PHO guy know he is extra-dimensional? That’s something I’d expect SpaceCowboy to claim. How do they know who Apprentice is? That seems like a big reveal/topic - new parahjman on the block? is Magus forming a team? Gang? Etc. Overall I’d say this needs an overhaul - more randomness. At least one person should be talking about costumes / sexist commentary per rule 34. Heh, given that Magus is claiming magic I’d expect there to be someone trying to explain his shown powers as smoke & mirrors, but maybe with tinkertek.
