PF: Chapter 66
🕑 Added 2022-10-28 20:32:00 +0000 UTCKuvira, for now, was a nice host while Suyin was trying to catch up with Lin. The only thing Chen felt sorry for is that he won’t be present to see Lin busting into a volcano.
“Why are you smiling?” asked Asami.
Currently, the four of them were sitting in a local restaurant, having a nice meal. As for Kuvira, she was getting the supplies Asami asked for, which Chen had no clues about since he was no genius.
Turning to his fiancee, Chen smiled. “Nothing.”
“You’re thinking about Beifong, right?” Korra said. “But still, It’s not funny to use other people’s family issues for your amusement.”
Chen shook his head. “I was only smiling because I thought how happy the family will become because of me.”
Korra raised an eyebrow in suspension.
Chen continued. “Not everyone thinks like you, you know.”
“What are you trying to say? You think I'm the one who finds that funny?” Korra pouted.
“Never said that.” Chen shook his head. “Just pointing out that could find a better conclusion of my intents, as Asami did."
Korra was right about him, but he would never admit it. it would be funny to mess up with her.
"Unbelievable." Korra blushed a bit before picking up a sandwich and looking at the other side, seeming to be angry that Chen was trying to spike her jealousy up.
Chen smiled.
Asami chuckled a bit, and Chen turned his head to the streets.
People were passing by them. They were all doing their daily life things, clueless about the danger surrounding them.
The only thing that Chen felt sorry for was that he was doing a free service for these people.
‘If I got 10 Yuan from every person I would save accidentally, I should be a billionaire.’
Chen sliced a part of his steak, which only god knew what was in it, and started chewing.
“And with the Station of the Ba Sing Se…”
In the corner of the restaurant, a radio was streaming.
“The Earth Queen has been murdered by the Order of the Red Lotus. Zaheer, the leader of the organisation says that the tyrant's era is about to end. The spirits have joined his cause, and he says that they approve of his actions. The liberation is upon everyone, and the injustice is about to end…”
Kuvira, who just came, dropped a bunch of stuff.
Korra, on the other hand, stopped pretending to be angry at Chen, turning her head slowly.
On the other hand, Asami blinked twice.
The people inside the restaurant had conflicted feelings.
They started talking among themselves.
“The Earth Queen was quite bitch.”
“Happy that she died. She’s only about taxes raise and her people just kept getting hungrier and hungrier.”
“It appears that spirits had listened to our prayers…”
“What prayers. You live among the metal clan. We all living well here.”
“Still, my cousins live in the Earth Kingdom. The Earth Queen was just a maniac. Good thing that she died.”
“So the hero’s name is Zaheer.”
Korra slammed her hands on the table, turned to the customers, and yelled.
“CAN YOU JUST SHUT UP? I’M TRYING TO HEAR THE NEWS HERE!”
Chen rubbed his ear while Asami stood up and placed her hands on Korra’s shoulders.
Korra could be very loud when she screams.
Anyway. Her yelling worked as everyone shut up, except for the Radio.
“The Order of the Red Lotus declares that the Earth Queen is just the beginning. They will soon move to the rest of the world…”
“They can only dream.” Korra shot a fireball at the radio, turning it off by force.
Chen sighed. “You missed the main detail. Zaheer somehow convinced the spirits to join him.”
“Meaning?”
“They can achieve their purpose, killing every leader in the world and chasing you at the same time…” Chen lowered his head, thinking. “Each spirit is powerful enough to take an army on its own. In that case, they can distribute themselves across the world and achieve that.”
“I can’t be in different places at the same time.” Korra looked at Chen with wide opened eyes. Deep in her blue eyes, she was confused.
“They know that,” Chen said. “But at the same time, it can be to our advantage.”
“Our advantage? How’s that?” Korra said, “Are you crazy?”
Chen nodded. “We don’t have to fight them all. If more ancient spirits were across the world, we can directly strike the core of the library. On the other hand, Zaheer and his group can be dealt with later.”
Asami nodded. “He means that while they are attacking, they’re leaving their base’s defence exposed. I would usually say that we should follow the spirits and stop them from killing. But we would be wasting only time. It would be best to be efficient and go to the library.”
“Hold on.” Said a stranger's voice. Everyone turned to find Kuvira standing over them. “I see that you are involved in spirits and this. In that case, the metal clan will fight since it involves our safety. The earth kingdom will go into chaos after the queen’s death. We need to stop this before it’s too late.”
Chen looked at Kuvira’s black eyes.
One might think that she’s actually offering help.
Since he’d known her hidden goal, Chen could assume why she was offering help. She’s doing that to gain power in the future. If anyone helped the Avatar, they would be considered legends. People would die to be led by such people. Kuvira, who wanted to become a conqueror, wouldn’t waste such a chance.
“That would be appreciated…” Korra said, but Chen placed his hand on her lips.
He leaned back and looked at Kuvira.
“I have to ask you something first?”
“What?”
“Are you ready to die,” Chen said.
“What do you mean by that.” She said. “We’ll take an army, and discuss an efficient strategy. Some deaths would be inevitable. But with the Avatar here, I’m sure that we can pull it off.”
She didn’t seem to know where they are heading, or what kind of spirits they were going to face. These were no ordinary spirits, but ancient powerful ones.
However, she’s willing to sacrifice the army of this city to help them.
“The fewer people we take the better,” Chen said. “We can use a few metalbenders. Though I would wonder what use you have.”
At least, if he took Kuvira with him, she would have a high chance of dying. She’s strong so she could be useful. But if she died, Chen would be less worried about the future where she would turn into a crazy conqueror.
“I’ll do my best to help.” She replied.
Chen stood up and said. “Before going, bring a sandwich and mango juice.” These were Amon and Tarrlok’s probably last demanded meals.
Kuvira’s eyelid flinched for a second before she nodded and said. “On the way.”
