People were taking far more drugs before World War 1, but everyone has forgotten that. Look on wikipedia. The Great Binge was from 1870 to 1914. It was only because of Nixon the US started forcing other countries to also have futile "wars on drugs"

Yeah there was a major drug & sexual revolution going on in the UK in the 1960’s, but from what I’ve heard from family, it was mainly in London and a few other major cities. Most of the country was still very traditional/conservative at the time. And just to throw my opinion into it, in general drugs are not good for you, but a blanket ban on them is absolutely bonkers and counterproductive! (Canada scores a win on that front!)

After this show finished a new show was done called "Going Straight" about Fletcher when he was released from prison. Same stars. Nowhere as good as Porridge, but its OK. Something you might be interested in 6 months down the line. Great reaction Megan
