EARLY RELEASE: FAWLTY TOWERS Series 1 Ep 1 UNCUT
🕑 Added 2024-02-26 18:30:17 +0000 UTCHappy Monday! This has been HEAVILY requested. Thanks to my top tier patrons for choosing this one! I also noticed this episode is called "A Touch of Class" and the last Only Fools episode I reacted to was called "A Touch of Glass." Coincidence? 🤔

200 pounds in 1975 is 1,500 pounds now. Basil doesn't want richer customers. He wants a higher class of customer. Class and income or wealth are not the same thing. In America they are, but in Europe, less so. How people speak tells you their class, not their salary.

I can see why it was so influential! And yes, I already love Sybil! 😆

Fawlty Towers is more than just a classic, I think it pretty much set the template of how to write a great British sitcom, pretty much every comedy writer after this cites Fawlty Towers as a big influence on their writing. Oh and you’re going to love Sybil (Basil’s wife). She don’t take no crap from anyone!

You should definitely watch the whole Fawlty Towers series, it’s a truly amazing British sitcom
