When we played Curse of Strahd, I went out of my way to buy as many bear traps as my barbarian could carry. If we came across a room full of enemies, we'd bar the door and I'd set them all up, much to the chagrin/amusement of the DM. Whenever we'd sneak atound Stradhs castle, I'd set them up for him. Even though he'd alway easily pass the check, the Dm loved voice his "ah, fuck" "what the hell is this" "where are all these ttaps coming from???" Voice.

At least in the 5e DMS guide there's a table for abilities and stats for commoners of different races which could be good for the slasher campaign.

With regards to people shifting themselves on dying and vampires, one of the traditional requirements for a vampire is that they rest on their native *Soil*. So a vampire that doesn't clean up post mortem automatically fulfills that requirement in a gloriously gross unlife hack. You're all welcome.
