I totally woulda skipped the dinner too. I'm thinking how are they going to find what they need to find if they go to dinner first. I doubt Strahd gunna be like go ahead check out my basement once he knows they are there.

In regards to the Triplets skipping the dinner: I think the module implies that players will potentially go to the castle multiple times before facing Strahd in a final show down, which didn’t make a whole lot of sense to me. How I did it in my campaign of Strahd was that I just didn’t do the castle at all and had them fight Strahd in the cathedral that’s like right in the beginning of the castle. Then they went down to the catacombs and gave Strahd the final blow.
