^Chronologically the OVA takes place right after episode 295, but it was released after ep 316. I personally recommend the chronological order as well but I think you'd be fine either way.

Great reaction man, Also remember there is an OVA coming. Its called gintama: aizen kou. you could watch it whenever you want but I personally suggest you watch it after episode 292 but its your choice
