What truly irritates me about this is that everyone blames a 14-year old kid and not the surrounding adults who didn't do their jobs. If basic psychological care and human rights aren't given to a child soldier, what exactly did they expect would happen? The jokes about Shinji getting in the robot that certain "fans" make are just brainless humour with 0 empathy. If Vietnam veterans cry for less, Shinji deserves more.
