The Next Adventure!
🕑 Added 2024-04-29 18:25:40 +0000 UTC...drumroll please....
Baldur's Gate: Descent Into Avernus will be the next adventure I undertake for mapping! I am excited by the new challenge and new setting.
Here's how I settled on DiA:
YOU voted for it (here). Thank you everyone for your votes and insight! DiA won out by a narrow margin and the enthusiasm for DiA (and ToA) had me give both those adventures another read and I am so glad I did. ToA was a top contender for me also and I hope to get to Chult one day!
Original source maps. DiA has Dyson Logo's black and white maps for most of the content in the book and I have worked with them before. ToA has color Mike Schley maps already (although certainly there is lots of detail and enhancement that could be added for modern VTTs)
Availability of third-party maps. Not a lot out there so far for DiA - I think there is a lot I can add to the adventure and offer an awesome complete set of maps. Also, the abundance of CoS maps put that adventure lower on the list.
Baldur's Gate is having some time in the limelight thanks to BG3.
It is a badass adventure. Hell, devils and demons, fire and brimstone. Infernal war machines for Mad Max style chases. Something totally new.
Here's what I'm hoping to bring to the adventure:
full color recreations of all the maps in the source book in a similar style to my previous adventures (and I'm expecting LOTS of new hell-themed assets)
city maps of Elturel (material plane + Avernus variants) and Baldur's Gate - you'll get a sense of what these might look like when I share my first Waterdeep ward map in a few weeks.
hex-crawl style map tiles for an infinitely expandable and customizable map of Avernus.
Great, when do we get started? I'm targeting June to start releasing DiA content.
For the month of May, content will include:
Foundry module update for DotMM to v1.0 (paid release for all patrons)
WDH Chapter 2 map (vote in the poll here) - starting to fill in some gaps in Ch 2 for my map collection
Waterdeep City Map - North Ward - the start of a big project to re-map Waterdeep in my style and hopefully set up some different tools/ways to interact with the maps.
WDH Alexandrian maps (future poll) - filling out some of the Alexandrian remix locations and likely further overlap with Ch 2 locations (I haven't fully investigated this yet).
See you in hell ;)

Dang, a real shame, probably second behind CoS in the amount of maps already made for it by others. R.I.P Tomb of Annihilation
