Level 12-1 - Dungeon of the Mad Mage (All Tiers)
🕑 Added 2023-05-05 13:32:45 +0000 UTCSpiderwatch Keep. The drow fortress on Level 12: the Maze Level. Dark walls rising from the fog in the vast cavern.
A slightly different split for this map/release - this release includes only Map A - Spiderwatch Keep as it has a significant amount of the detail and work for the overall level. The next release will include the remaining 3 maps to finish up Level 12.
Map Notes. There are 3 map levels included for this map - Lvl 1 (main floor of everything), Lvl 2 (second level of the towers, roofs of the outbuildings), and Lvl R (roofs of the main keep, towers, and tops of the walls).
There are lots of light effects around the cavern (for elevation effect) that should be deleted as there are no light sources anywhere except for the guest quarters. The vrock perches around the cavern I made a little more prominent that described to better show their locations.
Final note is that area 14 & 15 overlap - so if layering the maps in 1 big composite image expect some overlap there in the future.
Files. I have included both Background "_BG_" and Transparent "_TP_" versions of each level of the maps (1, 2, R); background means it has a flat grey image behind the dungeon, transparent means there is nothing there. For the Roll20 versions, this means the background version is a jpg while the transparent version is a png (jpgs don't support transparency); Foundry are both dd2vtt files. I've also included Foundry LEVELS files for Levels 2 and R, that you can use to place as overhead tiles/with the level module. Note due to file size limits, the Foundry zip folder is 2 parts.
The zip files below have the Level 12 Map A Levels 1, 2, and R, as well as a GM overlay the map. Roll20Free is a .jpg < 5MB, Roll20Paid is a .jpg < 10MB, while Foundry formats are dd2vtt files. Roll20 maps are at 70 and 140 px per grid cell respectively and the Foundry files are 100px (this also holds true for the transparent images).

Level 12-A (& also Level 5) particularly stands out to me as one that could benefit from png files for rooftops (& tree canopies for Level 5). I like the elevation but find it not very useful in practice when each height is the entire map as it doesn't really utilize that elevation in a meaningful or useful way. Being able to utilize the rooftops (& even the fog around the Drow Fortress walls) as overhead tiles in Foundry or with the Levels module would put your work into the elevation to better use. Is there any plan to release anything like that? (if not, one day I'm going to have to tear the hell up out of your dungeondraft files to make it so for myself)
